I'm getting more and more into sharing the beer love with the buddies of mine who enjoy good beer. Are there any truly interesting tasting glass sets, something with a little more unique shape to it?
Depends on what size you are looking for. I like snifters the best, but have bought a large number of smaller volume sized ones for hosting larger tastings where everybody gets about 2.5 - 3 ounce tastes from World Market. This is what I got: http://www.worldmarket.com/product/teardrop-turkish-tasting-glasses-set-of-6.do They are like 3.25 or 3.5 ounces total volume, but they have other shapes too...
The Wine ISO glass is pretty versatile and works great for tasting. Id say buy a case of these. http://www.winepros.org/consumerism/glassware.htm http://www.culinarydepotinc.com/p-7...7146_a_7cC66&gclid=CJjotOrq-bICFayPPAodyVYArA
I think these are pretty boss (although I'm not sure how functional) http://www.amazon.com/Glencairn-Cry...e=UTF8&qid=1349995924&sr=8-4&keywords=snifter
A lot of breweries sell branded taster glasses. They are relatively cheap, so you could purchase multiples. Here is one example from Left hand Brewing. 2.50 each. You could grab 10 of them for probably 30 bucks with shipping.. http://www.lefthandbrewing.com/blog/shop/5oz-taster-glass/
I bought a ton of these for our local tasting group. They worked out really well, were a good size, and had a nice quality feel and thickness to them. http://www.pier1.com/Mini-Brandy-Snifter/2563358,default,pd.html
Hey guys, thanks for the good feedback. I'm sure that its not cheap, most of all with small runs, but is there any place that will do custom printing? Think I'll do a search or maybe start a different thread. I like the idea of a mini snifter, but can't see just getting a random brewery that I either don't have access to or don't drink, or both. I would be willing to get a set from a brewery I drink, ie Founders, New Glarus, Central Waters, Capital, so on, but none seem to sell sets.
I think I like these ones: http://www.wasserstrom.com/restaurant-supplies-equipment/Product_454952#close Too bad its got a case of 36 limit and the price per isn't too great at $4.34 per. Think I'll drop them an email to see if they can go smaller, but I don't think the outcome will be good. May also try and split it up between friends, if any one is interested, local MKE would be a lot easier.
A few of my friends use these chalice-style glases from Ikea: Nice size, feel sturdy, and they're only $3/ea.
Despite this feedback, I was mesmerized with the looks and couldn't help but give them a try myself. I'll post back if I have the same feedback.
