Not as sexy as Modern Times etc etc, but for people close to Santa Barbara, Telegraph is starting a membership thingy (details here). Their Obscura events each of the last two years have been very good, and I'd put the best beer I had at the most recent one up against any other sour I've ever had, period. That said, the guy in charge of the Obscura line has moved on to become head brewer at Libertine; he said the guy taking over was good, but I have no firsthand experience.
Paul Rey? I really enjoyed the Obscura event and would consider joining this - though it's a little pricey on the per oz side and includes the standard Berliner in the bottles.
Yep, that's him. And yeah, I was disappointed by the inclusion of a few shelf beers (Berliner and Gypsy). On the fence, mainly because I just don't know if the quality will dip with the change in brewer. If Paul were still there, I'd do it without thinking twice.
