I just bought a temperature regulator for my fridge to cellar my beer in. I plan on putting the temperature probe in a bottle of water to accurately read the temp of the liquid.

Experts say to cellar around 50-55 degrees. I'm guessing that is the temperature of the air that one should cellar at. So, if I place my probe in liquid, what temp should I set my regulator for since the air temp and liquid temp will definitely be different?

I was planning to do around 52 degrees for the liquid. Would that be ok?

    Thanks for the help guys!

I guess I could be wrong, but after a few days the liquid should be the same temp as the air right?

Hmm, I didn't think of that. I guess that sounds about right. After a certain amount of time, I guess both temperatures would stabilize closer to each other.

I have my temp probe sitting in the middle just hanging on some bottles. It looks like crap but I found it is far more effective than when it was taped to the side of the fridge.

Order a hygrometer for humidity, under $25 and necessary if you have corked bottles.

What do I have to do when the humidity is too low or too high? Take the corked bottles out for a while?

Humidity should be around 10% to begin, put a damp sponge or small container of water in the fridge to increase. I just pull the water out if humidity is too high. Try to keep my fridge at 50 degrees and 50 percent.

Thanks for the help. I'll pick a hygrometer up this weekend.
