    Has anyone tried this?

I noticed my favorite craft bar in Tokyo, Craft Heads, has offered these on their menu.

    I'd like to try!

Sounds awesome, but I can't imagine it'd be any good. They aren't really edible are they?

I bet they'd be cool to munch on while you sipped your beer, if you were at that place in Tokyo.

Do they mention the hop variety? This also makes me curious to know if Japan has developed or has any indigenous hop varieties.

I believe that is a Shinshu Wasei hop, which is native Japanese.

Also another Japanese hop used a lot in the US is Sorachi Ace.

Come to think of it Sorachi does sound very Japanese.

I'm going to have to research the flavor profile of the Shinshu Wasei hop...that sounds interesting.

    Thanks!
