I don't know if OP agrees with this, but for me, one of the defining characteristics of Ten Fidy is the soy sauce/umami note. I recommend Founders Imperial Stout and Old Rasputin, because they have that soy sauce note in addition to massive chocolate and coffee, like Ten Fidy.

The OP was worded with a broad brush. I wasn't trying to go outside the lines either. I answered with the 1st thing I thought of, that fell within the parameters of his statement.

I reread the post again. I'm not picking up what you've thrown down!

Seriously.. TenFidy is 1 of 2 top imperial stouts that I love. The other is BOMB.

This is the first year that AZ has gotten Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, which I promptly fell in love with, if you haven't I would give that a go. And to those above that mentioned Founders IS, I totally agree. Fantastic beer that I always look forward to.

I'd have to do a side by side to make a true judgement , but I'd agree with the earlier Founders comparison

Founders Imperial Stout is a great beer, but nothing like Ten Fidy in terms of flavor. Don't know why people keep mentioning it...

I find Ten Fidy and Founders Imperial to be quite similar in flavor. I think Ten Fidy and Founders Imperial are more roasty and bitter than Narwhal and Even More Jesus, both of which I notice more coffee & chocolate. That being said, I don't think any beer compares to Ten Fidy's ridiculously creamy mouthfeel.

I agree. Ten Fidy is definitely in my top 10 beers, but Founder's Imperial Stout might be my favorite beer. So dang good.

FIS is similar in thickness, but much more roasty. I also think Yeti is similarly thick but way more hoppy on the back end. To me, Plead the 5th is the closest and the Even More Jesus suggestions are not bad either.

    Nothing

Close are Founders RIS, Bells Expedition, Yeti, Plead the 5th and I believe Storm King
    I don't think there's a bad choice above

I pretty much share @dlcarst and @Gaddabble's insight. They are very similar, but FIS is a bit more complex in terms of depth of chocolate, coffee, and a subtle smokiness, which is why it wins over Ten Fidy for me, even though both are world-class imperial stouts. However, I think Ten Fidy has a slightly creamier mouthfeel, even though FIS's is also substantial. Ten Fidy basically sets the bar for the beer with the best mouthfeel, imo.

Glad some folks recommended Pt5, that would be my suggestion.

When I think of beers similar to Ten-Fidy, I immediately think of Founders Imperial Stout and Alesmith Speedway Stout. Yes, the latter is a coffee stout; no, I don't think that matters, since we're talking similarity.

Old Rasputin and Narwhal are big flavorful stouts, but I think they're both far more bitter than Ten-Fidy. Aged Narwhal comes closer; give it a year, and it becomes a chocolaty delight. It can't compete on mouthfeel, though. FIS really does come close.

As many others have said, Evil Twin makes a bunch of big, sweet, thick stouts. None of them are identical to Ten-Fidy, of course, but many are quite similar.

Founders Imperial Stout was the first thing that came to mind.

I always pick Old Rasputin, because it's half the price, but that is another one that is "in the neighborhood."

Even More Jesus might have a similar viscosity, but is a completely different beer.

Nothing is like 10.50. I love that beer, and nothing compares to the thick roastiness that comes in that can.

Since, like me, part of what the OP loves about Ten Fidy is the sweetness, I strongly and respectfully disagree with the recs for stouts I perceive as much more bitter (eg, Rasputin, Yet, and to a lesser extent Founders IS). For my palate, even the sweetness and richness of many bourbon barrel stouts are much more evocative of the appeal of Ten Fidy.

I wouldn't say FIS is closer to Old Raspy than Ten Fidy. FIS is more like really fresh Ten Fidy, with that roasted malt character. Over time they both mellow but FIS holds onto more roastiness. I'd try Bell's Expedition and Avery's Czar. If you want to branch into coffee impy stouts - alesmith speedway and perrenial sump are amazing, with Speedway obviously being much more available. You might also consider some bba stouts - wild onion drago is year round and is miles better than new holland dragons milk imho. Mother's MILF is very regional, but in sw missouri you can buy as much as u want in most places so anyone here would likely trade you for a lot of it w/o difficulty. BCBS, KBS, Black Note, etc are not as hard to come by as some say either, you just have to pay attention and be able to be there at the right time. Another thing you might consider is setting aside 200 dollars and just splurging on 2 or 3 cases of Ten Fidy and having it as a staple in your house/apartment, replenishing when you get down to a case or so left. Thats also a good way to end up with some aged brews without having to fight the urge to drink them right away.
