I'm curious about these two seasonal releases. I've never had either but I plan on getting them soon. What do you prefer?

It's been a while for both but I think I prefer Expedition. Not sure why, might be the yeast strain.

Ten Fidy I've had within 6 months, really an amazing example of the style, chewy, nice anise notes, sweet dark chocolate, good mouthfeel. I compare it to Stone RIS.

Expedition(had almost 2 years ago, sitting on a couple for a few more years) was a beast of a beer as I recall. Big roast character. I remember getting more hop astringency than I would have expected, completely different beast than Fidy. Really left an impression on me as a beer to drink with some/alot of age on it. I am really looking forward to seeing if my suspicions were well founded.

Since Fidy is available year round(and I haven't seen a bottle of Expedition in AZ in almost 2 years), I have to give the nod Fidy as the better beer.

Both are very solid IMO. Expedition has some black licorice notes in it that some people don't care for. I prefer Ten Fidy - mouthfeel is amazing!

Ten Fidy is a fall release, but often sits around most of the year due to price.

I like both beers about equally, but Expedition seems to age better based on my limited experience.

Expedition is one of the best aging beers, put it away for at least a year.

Ten Fidy by a large margin (4.5 vs. 3.98 for Expedition).

    Tough call.

Fresh, I'd say Ten Fidy. Aged, I'd definitely go with Expedition.

Too close to call. Both stellar.

Both are outstanding. Expedition is cheaper, and is actually distributed where I live. But Ten Fidy is not hard to get for me. I have a cousin in Denver who shipped me a bunch last year. Based on cost I choose expedition.

As others have said, Ten Fidy is ready to go day one. Expedition needs time to peak.

Expedition is the choice for me but you can't really go wrong with either.

There are a bizzilion (give or take 6) different RISs out there...... why does everything have to be about one or another? Depends on the mood I'm in.... price, location, availability, etc....

Nope. It's always a vs and there must be a winner. Must be.

To me ten fidy has a slight "bacony" taste to it. I don't dislike it by any means but expedition is one of my favorites so it wins by the slightest of margins.

Ten Fidy, no contest. No aging required, tasty out of the can, and never disappoints.

    There can be only one!

Just kidding...I agree with you completely. There are plenty of variables that go into what I feel like drinking. Why limit myself?

Why choose? Drink both. Age both. And throw in some Founders Imperial Stout too!
