Anyone been there yet? I have visited there twice now and it is a nice place. I am very impressed by the overall quality of their beer, especially considering how new they are. I had a flight on my first visit and two were outstanding, two were very good, and all were solid offerings. I especially like their Pale Ale and the Irish Red. I noticed they added a Blonde Ale when I was there yesterday, I am hoping to try that one also.

So far they are only open Wednesday thru Saturday, so I would call ahead if I was planning a road trip. I am in Flint fairly often, so it is an easy stop for me.

I thought I would give them a shout out and also am curious if anyone else here has a similar impression.

How sketchy is the neighborhood? I hate to be a hater but if something can possibly go wrong in Flint, it probably will.

I hope things work for them. It would be nice to stop by there on my way to Frankenmuth a couple times each year.

It's located downtime so you should have no problems. I suggest you hit up the new Flint's Farmer's Market as well. They have a nice, albeit small bottle shop in there that is worth a look.

Neighborhood is OK, not any different than any other medium sized city. The downtown is nearby, with two colleges and many restaurants in the area.

Downtown Flint is fine. Looking forward to trying their beer.

Honestly of all the time I have been to flint, and that is a very long list (lived east of there for 20 years and travel back to the parents frequently), nothing crazy has ever happened. I've been through some of the crappier areas, etc. and I actually had more sketchy interactions when I lived in Kalamazoo.

i didn't know this place existed. So I'll give it a whirl. Hoping it isn't another pop up place with just a mediocre offering. We've got plenty of those.

People in general vastly overestimate the probability of "bad things" happening, particularly in places like this that are proximate to, but not in, "bad areas".

I don't mean to be a jerk or anything but questioning one's safety in Flint is no joke. They were the nation's most violent city from 2010-2012 and they are still in the top 5. 1 in every 100 people in their population experiences a violent crime per year. That's stupidfying. I wish Tenacity all the success in the world but I won't visit until they turn things around in that town.

Those figures are alarming, but still point to how unlikely it is that someone visiting for the evening will be assaulted. Take your "1% of residents per year" figure. By definition, a resident lives there year-round. Assuming assaults are evenly distributed over the year, that means on a given day there is a 1 in 36,500 chance that a given resident is assaulted. That doesn't sound nearly as scary. Further, assaults are not at all evenly distributed throughout the population, and a hugely disproportionate number of assault victims are themselves involved in other illicit activities, so the true rate for a random, law-abiding visitor is actually much lower still.

As someone who lived in Flint Twp. for 10+ years, went to college in Flint, and has a wife who works downtown in one of the state's best HS, Flint is as safe as you make it. I have no problem bringing my family to the Downtown area. UM-Flint, The Cultural Center, The Whiting are all places we frequent often. While I haven't been to Tenacity yet, the wife and I have been downtown to the Table and Tap and Blackstone's several times and enjoyed it.

I haven't been there, as I generally shy away from Flint after spending my college years there. I recently returned for a school visit with a recent graduate and was actually impressed with the changes that have taken place in the downtown area since '05/'06. Had lunch downtown, walked around, etc without much care.

Looking at Tenacity's location, I think it's worth a visit. It's in a decent location and is as safe as any other 'downtown' brewery. Might have to check it out someday as Flint isn't that much of a haul from here.

I have worked in Flint the past 3 years and have lived in the surrounding community my entire life. The neighborhood is not bad. Its right off Grand Traverse, its a stone throw away from downtown and the college campuses and if you go down a little further youre at one of the hospitals.
