My parents are on a trip to Tennessee (Sevierville to be exact). What beers from Tennessee should I have my mom try and snag. She brought me back Yazoo Dos Perros and Hefe the last time they went. Is Sue hard to find?
No, you should be able to find it fairly easily. Their spring seasonal is out right now and it is damn good.
Kentucky Ale (Alltech) is available if you haven't had any. They have BA stuff that is decent, but if you like the style, their Kolsch gets good props. Against The Grain distributes down there, but those are hit and miss. Might find a Citra Ass Down or a London Balling on a shelf. Friends seem to like the Kamen Knuddelin.
Wiseacre is great. They make a phenomenal milk stout called Gotta Get Up To Get Down. They just realeased Azazel, which is a Belgian style golden with Buddhas hand. I haven't tried it yet, but grabbed two of them.
I have heard a lot about Wiseacre. Sue is in bombers and cheap at like $5 or $6. Should be easy to find.
Calf Killer brewery out of Sparta,TN. has some very tasty products....but as of now are available only on tap at select locations.
I'm going to Knoxville tomorrow, for a week. Not especially looking to bring anything back but if you wanted to point me in the right direction for what to look for to drink while we are there, I'd be appreciative.
I couldn't disagree more. Try it if you can, they make a very good rye barrel iPa. I really enjoy their peach barrel wheat ale and pumpkin ale as well.
I've tried all of these and can't back a single one. I'm glad you enjoy them, but personally, I wouldn't give these beers away as extras.
Check out Straight to Ale stuff, also from the Huntsville area. Particularly if you can find BA Laika, but even the base beer is delicious.
I've had the BA Laika before actually, someone sent me some in a Thank you box. Wiseacre "Gotta get up to get down" was really good, took the last two cans I had home with me.
