Did you introduce yourself as "The Shagger"? If so, I can see why they wouldn't encourage your return.

I've never had a bad experience at Teresa's. Most recent trip was about two weeks ago.

    Same here, always good service.
But, maybe it was because the waitstaff was ignoring the less important patrons.

I'm a huge fan of Teresa's as well, but sometimes the service can be a bit slow at the bar. The problem usually has to do with getting someone to wait on me when I first sit down, but once I place my first order, things always seem to move more smoothly.

Shrug. I'll be moving back to the NW in another month, and while there's a lot of great places in SEPA I'm going to miss, Teresa's will probably be at the top of my list of places I'll be very sorry not to see any more. IMHO, they have the best combination of great food and great beer on the East Coast (at lesat that I've ever visited).

Am planning to stop by one last time the weekend after next!

Why not review the place versus creating a thread?

I just assumed he was trying to get some corroboration of a problem he's encountered there receently. Doesn't sound like he's getting it.

I would be curious to know how often he's experienced the problem he seems to be alluding to. Any place can have an off day or off night, no matter how good it is. Personally, I'm always a bit puzzled by people who visit a place one time, have a bad experience, and then assume everyone else's opinion must be mistaken as they proceed to trash the place (not saying that's what the OP is doing here, but it's hard to tell how prevalent he thinks the problem is). I mean the place gets a 97 on BA, all the most recent reviews are fairly positive, so unless this has happened to him a half dozen times or so, it would seem reasonable to assume that his experience was something of an aberration.

John, do you ever read Yelp reviews? Every place, no matter how good, has a number of one-and-dones for some seriously petty bullshit. I would like to hear more detail from the OP. I wouldn't be surprised if they had to wait a longer than normal for their first drink and are just still freshly annoyed by it. Personally, I always become the invisible man at a bar unless I'm known there, which is weird since I am a good tipper and have a generally pleasant disposition. If I'm with a lady friend, I usually give her money and have her get drinks so I don't have to get ignored then frustrated. This is why I punch a dog every time there's a non-PBW potentially low-key special tapping that I really want to go to that gets blown up on social media.

Anyway, I love Teresa's and have never had to wait too long there for a drink, even when I'm doing the ordering.

Very rarely anymore, and exactly for the reason you mention.

My take is pretty much exactly the same as yours. One of the bartenders knows me somewhat at Teresa's, and that's helped out a bit in terms of waits at the bar. However, like you, unless I'm known at the bar I'm visitng, the occasional wait for a drink is pretty much expected (As you can imagine, I pretty much never have to wait for a drink at Max's, and they always let me run a tab there. However, they're the exception, and I attribute that to the fact I stopped by there 2 or 3 times a weeks for years.). Sure, it can be annoying at times, especially if a place isn't busy, but I'd have to wait 30 minutes or more, and likely on several occasions, before I'd become so pissed off that I'd post something on BA.

There have times when I've stopped by TND during an event when I've sometimes had to wait 20 minutes or more for a drink. Yes it's annoying, but when patrons are two and three deep at the bar, I can't really blame poor service on the bartender. If I'm going to blame anyone, I blame myself, as I'm the one who made the decision to go, even though I pretty much know what to expect during one their events.

It's a long bar, so that can sometimes slow things down on the first drink. But generally the bartenders come by even several times before I'm done with my glass to ask if I'm OK and I'll usually order another when I'm down to a few sips.

I agree it can get busy during events, but the ones they get where it's packed are usually ridiculous (like 10+ HF/Grassroot beers or two years of CBS along with several Russian Rivers and a few Cantillons, etc.) and they do a great job of keeping everyone's glass full. There was a point during the HF event last year where it was completely full and I could only see a few people who didn't have a drink in their hand.

Yeah, not many people complain about Teresa's. I was surprised to see no one has reviewed the place since December of 2011! Too much effort I guess. Why not throw down your experience (good or bad) and knock them down to 96?

Ok, I go to TND all the time, I have over 75 check-in on untappd for this place. I know the bartenders and talk to Andy when I see him there. I am a good tipper (>25%). They have a great beer selection, one of the best and the place is very nice, however, to me, they appear to be snooty and pretentious. I know this in the mainline, I live on the mainline, but come on now. It seems to me that that the beer tenders spend more time rubbing glasses than serving the customers. They do have nice glasses. Wondering if others have the same experience. I think that they need a Magic Man!

I also go to TND frequently. There are a couple of bartenders that come across as snooty and pretentious, however, most of my experiences there have been good ones. I tend to ignore the short comings of the few because i am always drinking great beer. The food is excellent as well. I do see where you are coming from though.

Lots of times it gets busy at Teresa's and I'll have to wait at the bar. When its not crazy I never have a problem. No experience with the tables they have in the bar section. All my servers have been nice and VERY knowledgeable. I can't complain.
