Terrapin Mega Update

Greens on Buford has it now. They're holding it until 4.

Tower on Piedmont has it as well, and they're selling it now - just ask for it.

I paid $10.50 at Tower and $9.99 at Greens. One bottle limits at both stores. Trying to decide if I want to drink or trade - I can't imagine this thing can possibly live up to the hype, especially given Terrapin's track record. I haven't been impressed with a new Terrapin beer since Depth Charge - and that was, what, 4-5 years ago?

The packaging on this thing is snazzy though. I guess that's why I had to pay $10 for a bomber of a non-barrel aged 6% ABV beer.

 

lol the packaging is the most impressive aspect. A lot of the Growler stores are getting a case for those who want another route to buy them.

Ironic that they haven't announced having it in stock... guess that means they're holding them for favors.

 

Or perhaps they are just telling folks that on the phone at this point. Gonna stop by some smaller places on the way home from work and hope to get lucky.

 

I'm sure they are. Just find it funny that they're one of the few big ITP stores to not post anything today on social media about it when they usually do for all the big releases.

 

Honestly, I just completely lucked out at both Greens and Tower (I shop at both regularly).

I was on my lunch break and decided to pop into Greens before heading back. Lo and behold, there's a stack of three cases of White Chocolate Moo Hoo just sitting there. I wave down an employee and ask if they're for sale. They let me and another guy each have a bottle, and then promptly take the remaining bottles to the back to be sold at 4.

As I'm leaving, the other guy that scored a bottle of the WCMH catches me on the way to my car and tells me that he was just at Tower, that Tower has also gotten their allotment, and they're currently for sale if you ask. So I drove over to Tower and got a bottle there as well.

If I'd been to Greens 5 minutes earlier or 5 minutes later, I would have missed out at both stores. Just got lucky.

This is a small offset for missing KBS the last 2-3 years, despite being an embarrassingly regular shopper at Greens and Tower. I prefer the old days when Greens and Tower were willing to just hold the rare stuff for their regulars. Now the poachers get everything.

 

Any word when this is hitting VA? Maybe next week?

 

I doubt I'll make it into town by 4, but I also suspect that at 1 bottle limit, I can atleast get one bottle of this shit to try at greens or something. I doubt my honey hole will get any as they haven't gotten much lately anyways. HopCity would be a good bet for a bottle since they will have it at 5pm, I'm sure they'll have 1 bottle limits, but haven't mentioned that. Then again.. it's HopCity.. it'll be a shit show for this beer, which isn't really impressing people so far.. Moo Hoo is good, but nothing I'm gonna go all KBS search mode over, especially at $10 a bottle and 1 bottle limits.


And I doubt any store around me OTP will get much of anything anyways, and it's usually a couple days/weeks later anyways for that to trickle out.

 

So you managed to be able to get a bottle before they were planning on selling it, and still bitched at Greens for setting a timed release?

Hop City did their usual "5pm release" meaning they handed out tickets well in advance and if you showed up at 4:45 you were screwed watching people already checking out with it...

Yeah, I had said this a few pages back. Was a little disappointed. Moo Hoo is great, but I only noticed it tasted slightly sweeter. I'm kinda hoping they'll release some BA or other variants of it next year.

 

yeah, yet again got hosed by having a normal 9-5 job...i think there's a few more stores getting it in the next few days but it'll go the same way i think unless i can get someone to put one aside for me. i'm sure it'll be on kegs EVENTUALLY here...

 

You were wronged because you didn't get any KBS last year, or the year before?

Not trying to get into a pissing match with you, I just thought it was ironic that you'd bitch to Greens and HopCity about having them release them at a certain time, yet you got a bottle before they released it to us general masses... And then posted it for trade already.......

 

HopCity said they MIGHT get more, as did Greens.. Both seemed very doubtful. Hopcity sold out really fast due to people waitin at 3pm for the truck. Greens sold out in an hour. Both stores had 3 cases from what I was told.

It should be on tap in a few places, so keep an eye on some growler shops. I'd like to try it on draft myself.

For those that struck out, I managed but just a few, but I'm willing to trade them out or something to those that really want to try it.

 

Actually, that's exactly what you were trying to do.

A broken clock is right twice a day too. Just because a crappy system worked to my benefit once in 2-3 years doesn't mean the system doesn't suck or that it's "ironic" if I complain about it.

Next time you don't want to start a pissing match, don't start one. Not hard.

 

any updates regarding CRWnB? released next week?
one guy I know says he's heard it will be brewery only. I'm hoping that isn't true.
