So I just received a nice box of ambrosia today and saw something I wasn't expecting:

    2010 & 2011 vintages of Terrapin.

I plan on drinking these boys tomorrow in the tram line at Big Sky tomorrow.

Anyone have any experiences with this brew with some age? I have only had it fresh.

    Much appreciated.

I never had it aged but had it fresh few times. It drinks so great fresh already as it is, I can't imagine what aging it would help with but if it's anything like FBS, I had one after a year on it and it just wasn't the same. Coffee flavor was more stale and subdued and I wouldn't age one again. Maybe 6 months max in cellar.

Recently did a '13 v. '11. I much preferred it fresh, the chocolate does take a hit. Not a bad beer by any means, but I would still seek it out fresh if you haven't had that yet.

Old 6% stout? Probably not very good.

I dug out a '12 Moo-Hoo from the back of my pantry last week. I'm not a fan of it fresh, but I thought it was great. I just bought a pack of '13 and have no intention of touching it for quite some time.

echo the above - I buy moohoo and let it sit a while. Most prefer it fresh so glad to see someone else sides with me

The lactose in moo hoo really breaks down the flavor and beer it is better fresh from a perspective of having the full flavor profile. After a year it really flattens out. It is better to drink fresh, but everyone has their preference though.

I had a 2011 followed by a 2014 this week... I enjoyed both. I tend to think of flat in terms of carbonation but would say that the flavor profile of the 2011 had smoothed or perhaps mellowed. Anyway, I think you drank yours several weeks ago now and hopefully enjoyed them!
