I will be in San Diego for a conference Jan 21-25 and staying at the Holiday Inn on the Bay in the Gaslamp quarter.
Wanted to see where were some close places to go
Bottleshops, bars, breweries? If its not too far I could maybe swing a cab ride if needed.
Anything special on tap or in bottles around that time I should be able to grab?
Also if anyone would like to do an IP trade for some Texas goodness let me know.
Thanks guys for all the help (and sorry for any redundancy if San Diego has been gone over again and again).
    Dustin

Isn't there a bottle store nearby in Santee that has great bargains on craft beer?

correct, beverages 4 less and el cajon brewing are the "thunder and lightning" of san diego county.

my post should be stickied and referenced in all further "is there any beer in san diego?" inquiry threads.

Help depends on if you're a Longhorn fan or an Aggie fan.

He could be one of the rare Houston or Lubbock Tech fans, or could be a TCU/SMU/Baylor alum.

If he's a Red Raider fan the only answer is the best beer is found at your corner 7-11.

Have to wait and see though.

Ha, longhorn fan due to the wife going there. Went to Texas State though. Thanks for all the help! I am gonna see if the people I am with will take a cab out with me or maybe just take an afternoon and go myself.
    Anyone want some Texas beers?

    Boo to the longhorns.

Take a cab over to MonkeyPaw, brewpub with a full bar so everyone can get something they want, good food too.

Awesome, thank you. I will see if I can get them to go out and check MonkeyPaw and then maybe El Cajon and beverages 4 less...

They're fucking with you. Don't go to Bev-4-Ripoff.

Within walking distance of your hotel is Beer Craft, big bottle shop and they have 2 (or 3) taps. You can also pay/drink the bottles while there.

Otherwise read the threads hophead84 suggested and if anywhere, take a cab to Ocean Beach and visit the Pizza Port.

Depending on how much you like walking I would suggest Krisp (formerly known as Best Damn Beer Shop). It's on 7th Ave between Broadway and C Street. Probably the best beer selection downtown and only about a mile from your hotel.
