Texas BA's vertical tasting

    A vertical is where you sample the same beer across different vintages (years) to see how the beer changed over the course of aging. They do these fancy-schmancy type things in the wine world, but tend to do really expensive wines that are really old. Much more accessible for us beer geeks. You could also do a horizontal tasting, where you sample the same type of beer from the same vintage (imperial stouts from 2008, for example).

    I use the term Horizontal for our Tasting of Saint Arnold DR1-11 last year. Since they are all different styles.

    It doesnt just apply to beers.

    Ok i know for us it does, but im just stating facts here.
