Has anyone had issues mailing beers to and from Texas? I live in Houston and most beer sites will not ship due to state laws. Has anyone had issues with trades?
It's illegal or at least "frowned upon" to ship beers from person to person (trading) no matter where you live. Buying alcohol online and having it shipped will be vary state by state.
We can't have beer shipped into PA from anywhere....like if we wanted to order from Cascade, we couldn't.
However, the beer of the month clubs are allowed to be sent into PA....so not sure why those can but breweries can't. Different License I guess.
TABC rules seriously restrict the shipping of alcohol, specifically beer, into Texas. Interestingly, those same restrictions do not apply to wine, which you can readily have shipped here. There are a few places that DO ship to TX, although most of them do so in violation of TABC rules, and thus we don't mention their names publicly........ As for shipping trades, same general rules apply here as elsewhere - don't tell them its alcohol! FedEx/UPS/USPS rules apply universally across the board.
I had no problems shipping multiple times to Texas and getting kick ass Texas beers in return, all by FedEx. I always deal with the same woman and she never asks questions about what I'm shipping. If they ask you then will need to lie. Don't tell the truth. Or just tell them it's yeast samples........
"Wedding Gift" or "Collectible Glassware" is my usual answer if I get asked. Only been asked like once or twice though. It really isn't a big deal.
