"Please pray for us, the comptroller said we owe $1,000 fine because we filled a report late and they will not drop it. It was just a report of sales, we paid all our taxes on time. After we had to pay $4820 in January for our State licensing which left is broke, this will break our backs! I called my State Rep James Whites' office and asked them to please help us. Please pay they can. If not we may just go under because of a clerical error of filling a report late. What ever you do, do not start a brewery and I am serious!"

Not that $1,000 is anything to sneeze at, but seriously...? They can't swing $1,000? Like someone on the post said, if you don't have that much extra money for stuff like this, you maybe shouldn't be running a brewery.

If you shut down over $1k, that is just bad. You find a way to get that money. I assume you have a lot more invested in it and if you can't manage $1k? Just my thoughts. And he said in other posts that they were making money normally. Based on that, you would think that you are investing 1k more into a not-sinking ship. Who knows.

I agree. That's an amount that's reasonable enough to make it happen. Sell something, get a small loan, whatever it takes. From personal experience if you want something bad enough, you can make a lot happen.

I like them and I like their beer, some of it. They just bought a lot of new toys for their brewery, so the timing is piss poor. I agree it's just $1000 and they should be able to raise that, they have a nice sized local following down there.

Bag on them all you want if it makes you feel better.

To be honest, I think they're great people (from my brief interaction with them). That said, I think they can make it happen if they want, and I hope they do. If a business fails, it fails, but I hate to see someone go down for a grand.

Honestly..stick $1k on a credit card. If they are making money, you can pay it back the following month.

I think it's unprofessional to post about this on social media. This is the sort of things you handle with the folks in finance and resolve quietly.

I assume you are hoarding their bottles as well? Most people want the limited release stuff and they clearly are the small time brewery.

Lots of businesses fail. No one wishes it on them, but its a reality. I saw their Fb post and my first thought was "don't they have a business plan?" They blame licensing costs, etc., but a good business plan would have factored those known costs in, as well as making sure there were some backup funds for unexpected costs.

Hopefully they get this figured out, and they learn to actually submit their paperwork on time (which would have avoided this whole issue in the first place) but they really need to sit down with a financial person and get their house in order or the next unexpected cost will sink them if this one doesn't.

I still cannot figure out WTF "Please pay they can" means. That sounds like something written by one of those Nigerian princes who always need my help.

It should read " Please pray they can" I believe

I think that's meant to be "please pray they can [help]," they referring to the state rep's office.
