We woke up at our campsite at Hill Farmstead the morning after the VIP event to a full, unopened bottle of that...all alone...abandoned. We pulled stumps and left it right where we found it.

Freetail if you're going to make a drive to San Antonio. While in Austin, you MUST go to Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon. Bring some of your beers in a cooler and sit out in the parking lot and listen to the band. Make it Sunday afternoon for chicken sh*t bingo. This place is great.

I guess people have very different palates sometimes. I've never met anyone in person that would argue the fact that Franklin has the best fatty brisket in Texas. JMueller was very sub par when I visited, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since they had only opened one month before I visited, but I haven't had an urge to return. Plus I've already heard stories he treats customers like the soup ****.

The Lockhart BBQ is good, but like people have already mention, it's the more traditional BBQ. Snow's is also worth a mention, but they're only open Saturday mornings until they sell out, which is usually about noon or one.

Just went through your state's brewery list. Do you live in a glass house by any chance?

    Edit: response to Retail1LO

No need to hate bro, have a beer!

We had three bottles of that during Philly Beer Week. After opening the first two which were both gushers and incredibly infected...we threw the third one in the shitcan without even opening it. *shrug* Guess everyone else got "the good shit." We were better off with what we traded to get them. Not that the people sending them to us knew the bottles were the way they were.

Who's states brewery list? Mine? PA? Hey man...I'm the LAST person that will run around trumpeting PA's breweries. Not that they're bad...but I don't find them to be anything special. We're lucky to have Tired Hands and Selin's Grove...perhaps a few other places. Largely...we're blessed because we get some of the best distribution in the country. We get everyone else's best...and worst...stuff.

In fact...they just started distributing Just Kidding around here recently.

It is well documented that BB Pecan Porter was infect on its initial release. Regular 512 Pecan Porter has never been bottle, and is one of my favorite beers. OK, done with this asshat troll:rolling_eyes:

I have to say...Live Oak Heffeweizen was ridiculously good. Beyond impressive. Heard Treehugger is awesome too. Beyond that...I could eat Texas BBQ every meal of the day. The Mexican food, obviously, is quite good too.

If I had to be honest: their brisket was a mushy mess. It tasted like they boiled it in a pot and it had no smokey flavor because they use oak instead of mesquite. Sure, it's fatty and moist, but there was no finesse. It's all hype, IMHO. Maybe I'm a traditional kinda guy... but my grandmama always said you smoke your BBQ with mesquite and build your furniture out of oak.

IMHO: JMueller has the best Beef Ribs in the land... and that's my favorite BBQ cut.

But I could argue about barbecue all day. This isn't BBQAdvocate

I think it was only documented by the people it was traded to. You never heard a peep about it being infected prior. LOL And I appreciate the effort you put into the namecalling. Top notch. Do they growler the regular 512 Pecan Porter? Is it good? Haven't read any reviews on it.

Texas is coming right along for sure. They recently surpassed the city of Portland in total number of breweries.

    Yes, yours!
You started your little fuckin rant about "Texas brewers" and as a whole, PA does not have much to brag about. If you want to switch your point to distribution, just say so and we will agree that yours is better.

But the thread is about TX brewers. Not PA. Was merely trying to express my opinion that I'm not the least bit enamored by TX brewers. That is all. I will now bow out of this stunning display of solidarity amongst TX craft beer lovers. I will leave your Rarh & Sons, Just Kidding, St. Arnolds, and 512 to you fine folks.
