It'd be nice to be able to add/edit beer review text without it wrapping within the display window. As it is, you have to type/scroll to the far right to add/edit a row of text. Since you can't see the earlier text on the row; it's more difficult to add/enter text that is contextually relevant without some scrolling (or a good memory).

    Thanks

If it didn't wrap, you'd have to scroll horizontally; arguably worse.

I just updated the textarea to allow for vertical resizing. Give it a try.

Yes, the textarea resizing works, at least in Firefox and Chrome, which is very nice.

In Internet Explorer it doesn't wrap at all and the vertical resize control isn't functioning or even visible.

I almost always use Internet Explorer and it was the lack of wrapping that bothered me, which I expressed incorrectly in the first line of my original request. My second and third sentences appropriately describe the problem of horizontal scrolling (without wrapping), which as you point out is arguably worse.

In any case, I wonder if this is an issue with others using Internet Explorer; or perhaps just a setting I have enabled/disabled?

    Thanks

The first line should have read . . . It'd be nice to be able to add/edit beer review text with it wrapping within the display window.

That makes more sense. I've experienced this issue too.

Sounds like an issue with IE. How do other textarea fields work under IE? Like posting in the forums.

Todd, I don't know if this addresses your question in a different way or not, but I think I have noticed that if I create a Places review while online on BA, the text does wrap okay and stays that way if I go back into it for an edit. But I think I have noticed that if I compose a review in MS Word and then cut/paste into the BA review window, that's when the word wrap gets lost. I haven't taken the time to test this to be sure, but if you think this logic is possibly correct I'll take a look at which reviews that I've done either way and compare them.

Wrapping works fine in the forum posts, like this one, in IE. It's just in the textarea window in beer and places reviews that wrapping doesn't function in IE.

It's a know issue with IE and word-wrapping with fixed widths. I just applied a possible fix. Please try now.

I just looked at 15 or so of my reviews over the full time span of all of their creation, and all of them are in the proper word-wrap mode now when I enter Edit mode. Looks like your adjustment worked, @Todd. Thanks.

    P.S. FYI @Tucquan

Ahh Yes! Word wrapping is now working in IE. Thanks a bunch.

Of interest, the control on the bottom right of the textarea box to resize vertically is still not visible in IE. It is visible and functioning in Firefox. It is visible but NOT functioning in Chrome.

    Thanks again.

As for "resize tab," it's working in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari for me on OSX 10.9.5. IE (a really crap browser) currently doesn't support it.

Closing this down as the text wrapping/textarea issue has been solved.

    Thanks,
