I would really like to try this beer but not exactly sure what it takes to land this. Anybody trade for this recently and what did you have to put up? Any info would be helpful.

FWIW, I recently offered a 2013 Assassin for any two of Prop, MBCP, BCBCSx4, and BB4Dx4, and received multiple offers for more than I was asking.

(I went through the offers in the order received, and accepted the first one that met my ask.)

At this point, you may be better off waiting until the 2014 version is released, when it should be more available.

And routine snarkiness notwithstanding, it's worth it, though it comes in third in the Toppling Goliath pantheon of stouts.

Surprising that it took seven hours for someone from California to chime in with this.

Would some BB Plead get the job done? I still have a few left to trade from 4 Elf.

FWIW, plenty of us in the Midwest would never categorize Proprietors as "rare". With far lower bottle counts, VSB, Black Gold, KBBS, and Assassin are a different story. There were less than 20 cases of Black Gold released, and a large portion of those were opened and consumed on-the-spot; if that doesn't qualify as "rare", I don't know what does.

As far as Black Gold goes... It never really got to be that rare of a beer! I dont think that it has much for trade value either... Even though it keeps climbing its way up the ladder on the new beer list sitting at #6 as we speak.

I assume you have some you wouldn't mind trading to me, then? :-)

Send me a cellar link or an offer via beer message. I have 1 bottle of BG that I could trade.

There are tons of great West Coast traders & there are others that just looove to throw around dumb, useless generalizations in about every thread they post in. Takes all kinds, I suppose.
