Of course you don't get the "beer cred" drinking easy to get beers like Bourbon County though.

I think it really sucks how these limited and hyped beers really get people on edge. Does it suck you missed out on a beer for what ever reason, hell yes, but there is a lot of great beer out there to be had and not all of it is limited. I have missed out on plenty of beer due to money, wife, kids, dog, work, etc... It is what it is.

I say enjoy what you have, and don't linger on missing it. If you want to enjoy it even more, share it with the great BAs here. I have had a great time sharing beers, whales, limited or shelf, with the awesome BAs I have met so far and hope to continue to share beers with others.

So, does anyone have any impressions on the beer?

Was told they just decided not to do the Mug Club route this time. Sucks... But, in all fairness, bottle allotments have never been something they stated they would do for Mug Club members. They just happened to do it with Assassin and KBBS. Might be something they don't do ever again. Who knows...

Converting the binary on the label to base10 & looking up the ASCII letters reveals a message about as exciting as Ralphie's Little Orphan Annie decoder ring puzzle.

What kind of beer is this, seriously? Does Iowa need its own thread?!?

Anyone ever find out if there was any difference between gold and platinum? The Ladies at the brewery yesterday said they were the same, but why use 2 different waxes and say on Twitter "2 missions were completed" when they posted the picture announcing the release?

I just joined the mug club and when I called in my payment the guy on the other end said that "In the past mug club members have gotten to reserve bottles but that isn't a guarantee."

If I had paid attention in high school I would have recognized that as foreshadowing.

My guess is because nothing they tweet makes any damn sense and Clark seems to enjoy feeding the hype machine. That or the wax signifies a difference in barrels used, who knows.

According to the taproom employees (who do NOT have any input in beer production or bottling), they just used whatever leftover wax they had from past bottlings.

Clarks twitter said specifically that the wax signifies nothing. I'd hope he's not an outright liar.

I swear there was a tweet where he responded saying "nothing" or "none" when someone asked him the difference but I can't find it now so maybe I'm drunk. Don't want to spread misinformation.

Thanks for info. A little bummed but no biggie. Hopefully we get a reserved bottle in the future or in place of that a 24 hour heads up about a release would be awesome too. Either way very happy to be in the mug club.

Whoa, that's setting a dangerous precedent. Better to make something up and insist it's correct.

Reminded me a lot of BCS Rare. Much better than pvw assassin. Just an incredible beer. I posted a review.

Can't compare it to Rare as I haven't had the pleasure of trying that beer, but it really was outstanding. I'd like to do a side by side with Assassin, but I really loved the chocolate in the SR-71. If I could only drink one going forward, I'd go with SR-71.
