I think they need to wait until mike starts his own brewery on the other side of Decorah called toppling toppling Goliath and then they can have "tap wars tg vs. ttg: this time it's personal"

Well that is interesting but not surprising on regifter and the pale.

Everyone is free to choose to believe whatever they want, but I know what I'm going with.

I know i'm getting to the party late as this topic of selling SR-71 for profit was talked about a few pages back, but i was sad to hear the locals in Decorah say they were buying the beer because the bartenders at TG were telling them "it will be worth $200 tomorrow when we sell out of it." Over the course of a few hours in the taproom, about a dozen locals asked us if that was true and could they actually sell it for $200.

My opinion, you should have the right to do with your bottles as you see fit (trade, drink, sell...put on a shelf and look at it for hours at a time)...but it was very sad to see so many people walk out with bottles yesterday because of the recommendation from a TG employee that they can make a ton of money.

You clearly missed the point I was trying to make, but that's OK.

Clearly. Are you sad the TG employee was encouraging sale of their product?

Not trying to take sides here, but did they really need to promote the sale of SR.-71!

Well, he's clearly from Highland Park, so that explains that.

Hard to believe the bartenders were spouting that nonsense. If you were local & not hooked into the "scene" it would be awfully tempting to flip a bottle. But I can't believe that's what TG wants. But given their behavior over the last year or so, who knows what TG wants.

Macalester-Groveland is its own neighborhood in St. Paul separate from Highland Park (its a sensitive subject )

Good point on what TG wants. Hard to make any sense of it.

I know for a fact Clark frowns upon re sale of his beer.

I sat at the bar for quite awhile on the first day of the relase, and I didn't hear any of these comments. In fact, I was sitting next to the husband of one of the servers, and he only bought one bottle. I have no doubt that they are fully aware of the value of the bottles, but I'm sure Clark prohibits/highly discourages re-selling by TG employees.

I could, however, see the "OMG this beer is really valuable" comment being made to locals who don't know what it's worth - but not in the "so you should go sell it" sort of way. I also was in line next to a local guy who specifically indicated he was there to buy bottles to resell, and that he brought his friends in to get him bottles. Ah well.

I agree. Seemed less bitter hops than king sue, bigger citrus nose (smelled like someone put hops in orange juice). This could be due to the difference in Citra hops this year though as they said previously this years crop is a lot juicier
