Mike confirmed it in Twitter. Part of me is OK with this and part of me hates it. I truly only hope this is the best choice for the brewery and their fans. If not, this is very upsetting news.

I cant read what matt said, but does that mean the taproom is shutting down?

Not saying this is it, but growlers of sue (64 oz) at the nova = $11. 3 bombers (66 oz) of sue at the nova = $24. Sad day.

I highly doubt that the taproom is going anywhere, but it may be the only place you'll be able to enjoy TG on tap it sounds like. Everything else will be bottled and sold via bombers, in theory to create more revenue. I'm assuming this is a move to pay off their debt.

That makes sense...especially if they can make 3x more by bottling the beer (Cha Ching!)

Is it time for an universal TG thread similar to the New Glarus and Pipeworks threads?

Had King Sue on tap at Sloopys in La crosse and it was great. With the truck chasers and bottle hogs I'll probably never have it again with this news. :slight_frown:

In the other hand, I prefer pseudo sue from the bottle and don't live that far from the taproom.

Also, this Tweet may make it seem like Mike made this decision. He didn't. He was simply confirming it was true and not a rumor.

I don't frequent bars too often, so this is good news. Was at El Bait Shop Saturday night, that King Sue keg from Friday
    was long gone.

I would assume it's temporary until they can catch back up. I saw a tweet from Clark the other day saying they were super low on beer at the taproom.

Ouch. There goes my weekly trip to Hudson. Any idea when this will happen or if it's immediate? I see the word "suspend" so who knows if it's testing the market or a permanent change. I can always understand the need to generate additional revenue and it's definitely understandable when you are faced with the sudden need for expansion but it hurts if you are outside the Decorah area and are used to getting fantastic draft beer (growlers) at very reasonable prices. Geez, my first post on BA and I'm already whining. Sorry.

I know they are moving into a new facility next year, not sure if this has anything to do with it though.

No. They moved into a new facility this year. I'm assuming this is a move to pay off the debt of that move and the costs associated with it.

Well, luckily for us there's one guy who frequents the forums that can tell us the story!

I know they plan on moving tap room to new facility, and I've heard they will be increasing mug club membership in the future.

Lots of wild speculation in here at this point dudes... The one big negative I see is seriously alienating draft accounts. I felt lucky being in Iowa City and having TG on tap as an option on the regular. I will suspend the prospect of being happy about seeing more TG on the shelf until I see how much more area stores actually get with new deliveries.

If going bottle only, I'd be happy if this was the time they went to the 12oz format for their regularly brewed beers. Six pack would be preferred, but I'd even take four pack. At any rate, I just hope this actually means more readily available bottles around my market and not having to take off work or beg store managers to save me ONE.

I think everyone knows by now, that breweries are in it for the money. Bombers make more money.
