I have heard a lot of talk about Toppling Goliath. I definitely love trying great beers that aren't readily available to me (Michigan). Every couple months I travel from Michigan to Moline, IL. If I drive a touch further to Davenport, would I be able to find some? Also any recommendations? Open to other breweries as well and specific bottle shops would be awesome. Any help would be great, I hear a lot of TG's beers are some great offerings. Thanks in advance!

Add TG on facebook and twitter if you haven't already. Watch for when they send out more bottles to the Quad-Cities. Then make the drive down.

Otherwise your best and only option is the taproom. You may find some Dorothy's New World Lager around, but there is a reason for that...

Great River Brewery in Davenport is all right, on the Illinois side check out Against the Grain, Rock Island Brewing Company, and Bent River.

Stores, in Illinois the HyVee's are your best bet. Davenport it is probably the same story.

Bottles go pretty fast wherever they are distributed. As has been said put TG on your facebook and twitter and that will give you the best bet of where they are distributing on which days. The bottles go fast though. It seems they last longer at Casinovas in Hudson, WI than most places as they seem to get more than most places from what people have been commenting on. Also you would benefit from calling the brewery as I have no idea what they keep there and how long it is available when they bottle.

This was Stark's Liquor in Prairie Du Chen on a snowy Saturday morning. The most TG I've ever seen in one place.

Nice. Does any distribution make it to Davenport? I don't want to go much further since its already about a 5 and a half hour drive for me. Was hoping someone could fill me in on a good Davenport bottle shop.

We almost should have a sticky on this since out-of-staters often think buying TG is straightforward in Iowa. the reality is that it's tough. From Moline Decorah is about a 4 hour drive so driving there will be out for most people.

They do deliver to stores in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and the QC sometimes though. If you keep an eye on their Twitter and Facebook feeds you can see where they're going, but they might only hit the QC once or twice a month. Even then you have to be ready to head down to HyVee since it won't stay on the shelf for very long, and I know of at least one place that doesn't even put it out on the shelf and just keeps it in the back.

If you really want to try TG your best bet might be to drive to Iowa City where it is almost always on tap somewhere. As far as bottle shops go the better ones IMO are the HyVees on the Illinois side although I have found some interesting stuff at the HyVee on East Kimberly in Davenport.

I think I will check it out and see what I find. I wouldn't be disappointed if I found some other stuff I cant usually get in Michigan. Any other breweries in Iowa I should look for at the Hyver? Definitely big into ipas, porters, and stouts. I'll eventually try some TG but I more or less just like to try new beers. Theres some stuff I'm sure I just don't know about but others do. With that, I appreciate all the advice/recommendations.

Not bashing OP, but all they need to do is do a little searching and reading of pre-existing threads.

I was being pretty specific in what I asked about. A lot of threads go from being helpful to unnecessary garbage. Well kind of like your post BrettHead. I'm not new to how difficult it can be to find top notch beers. I was looking more for help from actual advocates rather than smartasses. Not to bash you either of course.

As other have noted, it's going to be all about timing whether there will be any TG bottles in Davenport when you plan on heading there. TG bottles sporadically and with no set schedule. In the last month, they have seemed to release different bottles every week, so there has been more consistency. Even then though, whenever they do bottle and deliver beers to their various retailers, you had better be there within a few hours of the delivery or you will most likely be out of luck on scoring any....they sell out that fast.

To beat a dead horse, Twitter/Facebook following is your best bet to when/if they'll deliver to Davenport. They'll usually announce a day before they are set to delivery, and then the morning of the deliver will announce the retailers they will deliver to.
