Once again, in the spirit of Veteran's day/upcoming holidays and by order of my wife telling me to get rid of these extra empty bottle shippers, I'd like to offer 3, 12 bottle shippers full of beer to members of our military. The boxes will contain 500mls, 22's or 750's of varying styles (nothing expired), that have been properly cellared with the shipping costs at my expense. This is just a way of showing some gratitude to those who serve and have likely spent some of these holidays away from their own families protecting our freedoms.

    Thank You.

It will simply work like this:

I will send a box out to the first 3 military members (active, reserve or guard) that returned from a combat area in the last year. Simply reply to this thread with branch, area served, and your return date. We'll then connect via beermail and grab your details for shipping with hopes to have this to you for your Thanksgiving celebration.

    Cheers to all,

    Todd

Awesome. I retired a few years ago from the air force. Did my time here and there around the world. If I may, can I cover the cost of shipping a box for you. I can send you a label after you get a target for the box and details.

@Dave_Treat I would be happy to do so, not as much for the savings, but to get others involved and thinking about what it is we have with people like yourself that many others take for granted.

    We'll connect.

Thank you for the gesture as well.

For those viewing this thread, do forward to BA's that may not normally look in this particular forum. It is where I was told to put this type of post.

I'm former USAF too! Only served 4 years but was "lucky" enough to be stationed in Minot, ND for the entirety of my enlistment. :grimacing:

It's classified, it's classified, it's classified. I'll await my beer. (totally kidding, this is awesome!)

For my military BA friends who have posted here @allies_dad, @disGRUNTled , @Lehighace06 , @Dave_Treat, I had usually racked a bunch of responses by now, but have not had any so far. Are my parameters too narrow, I know we have bringing troops home, but unfortunately maybe not a s much I thought. Should I open the window a bit more?

I think the guys who've served are usually way too humble in what they've done for all of us. I've seen others struggle to get active or retired service men and women to step up and say, "look at me, send me some beer!" There are plenty of guys on here that somewhat know the stories of others though, so I would encourage nominations from other BAs... maybe not in the thread but as a BM to you for some suggestions on who you could send some boxes out to.

^^^ So much this. I don't even like using military discounts when people offer.

Hey man, just to clear it up, I'm not military; my "it's classified" comment was just joking around (if it wasn't funny, I sincerely apologize, I thought it was but not being on the inside of that community, I wouldn't know if offense might be taken).

If somehow are so fast that you already sent me beer, I know plenty of beer enthusiast vets (mostly not active on BA) that it'll be redistributed to, but assuming not, take me off your list.

Also this. In a similar thread, I had to shove another BA into accepting beer he was more than deserving of, for exactly this reason. Since that was pretty recent, I won't shove him into this one as well, but if you care to look around the BIF forum history, it'd be easy enough to find.

I also like the idea of BM'd nominations, that way they have no way of removing themselves from consideration.

Another idea you could do, and forgive me if this is way too presumptuous to suggest; based on the comments of some of the vets I've spoken to about this concept, perhaps you'd be better off raffling off the 12-shippers and donating the proceeds to Wounded Warrior Project, I think that would not only get non-military involved (I'd throw in a few bucks in a heartbeat) but you'd get a lot less shyness from the vets around here. Just my .02

On an unrelated note, what's with your title "Fest Captain"??? By points you should be "Savant", and "Fest Captain" isn't even listed as an option.

I think so, As far as the Marine Corps we are pretty much done with Combat deployments ,(I am Infantry) my last deployment was a MEU Marine Expeditionary Unit where we go on a ship and train In different countries, So not combat deployment which is why I did not take you up on the offer , If you changed it to maybe active duty, or veteran you will get some hits ...

While I would love to be considered a savant by somebody, I get the label of Fest Captain as it is a role I hold with the Bros. in conjunction of work I do with them for the EBF, ACBF, etc. I run a section of the events and manage the volunteers that are there as well as ensure the fest goes smooth from beginning to end for the brewers, volunteers, and most importantly the attendees.

I like this idea and will likely do this the next time I have this going on.
