So what's that one brew you have always over-looked, only to find yourself drinking it one day and thinking "why have I not tried this sooner?" For me, it was Founders Dirty Bastard. For the better part of 2 years, I have seen this beer sitting next to Founders Porter (which I also haven't got around to trying) and just always thought "ugh, maybe next time..."
Then the other night, I wanted something dark to drink as I usually do on these chilly autumn nights. Now usually, a RIS fits that bill, and i put a lot of faith in Old Rasputin. When I got to my local bottle shop, they were all sold out, so I started browsing for something else. That's when DB caught my eye, and without hesitation, I grabbed it off the shelf and checked out. When I got home, I cracked one open and thought "man is this stuff tasty!" I just wished I had discovered it sooner, especially considering it was always readily available too me. Anyone else have a similar experience they care to share?

    Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale Ale
Mammoth Brewing's Devil's Post Pale Ale (seasonal)
    Green Flash Double Stout
    Drake's 1500 Pale Ale & IPA

I'm sure there's others. These were the first that came to mind.

AleSmith IPA. I really enjoyed this one.

Speedway Stout is another one I kept overlooking for awhile and was really good when I got around to trying it.

Anything by Deschutes, for a while something just made me avoid this brewery for some reason, but now I recognize it was one of the highest quality breweries in the country (especially if you consider the price). Good stuff, for sure.

In a different sense, Fuller's London Pride comes to mind. I tend to choose something else when I see it simply because it's so commonly available I know I can get it anywhere.

Aventinus Eisbock. Passed it by for years always wondering about it. Was at the beer store a few weeks back and decided to pull the trigger. Wow, what a fantastic beer. Kicked myself for not trying it sooner.

I walked by Uinta's Dubhe plenty of times until one day I decided, what the hell. So glad I was feeling spontaneous that day.

Rochefort 10. Not sure why it took me so long to try it but I've been making up for lost time...

Pretty much everything by New Glarus. In my town Spotted Cow, and to a smaller extent Fat Squirrel, is shoved down our throats. That is the one craft, and often only, on tap in just about every tavern. I've never liked either and have resisted trying every other beer by them. I need to rectify this situation, because I've been hearing a ton of good things about other New Glarus beers since starting to peruse these forums.

    Awful packaging? U serious Clark?
I brought 2HA because i thought the fish packaging was excellently original....

Maybe that was the outdoorsman in me...

You should have grabbed the Porter instead.... lol
    The Porter is excellent!!!

I guess for me, the one beer in my black hole of a distribution area that i always saw, but never tried for a long time was Squatters Hop Rising. This DIPA is very solid and drinkable. The 6 pack though is at an outrageous 16 dollars a 6 pack. That was the main reason i always skipped over it!

I always overlook Pale Ales because in my mind, I am looking for something more interesting. Then when I get around to cracking open a Founders Dry Hop Pale Ale or Victory Headwaters, I am reminded that there are a lot of nice, easy drinking flavorful pale ales to be had.

Like the OP, mine was a Founders beer, but it was the Curmudgeon. My first try of it I was like....why the hell have I not been drinking this beer? Love it now.

I end up passing by too many beers to name. There's no way I can afford to try all of them, so I have to be selective. Most of the time, I settle for something I know that I like.

I did the same thing. Sadly, I haven't seen it once since I finally tried it.
