?

Could you limit yourself to a $50/month beer budget?

Finding these kinds of deals are what keep my beer budget down, I'm still drinking a lot of $6.50 goose island 12 packs I picked up a month or so ago.

Sam's Club. Those Sam Adams variety packs at $25 for a 24 pack can't be beat. Mine has the Schlafly variety 12 packs and Pale Ale 12 packs for 13 bucks. In Illinois you don't even have to have a membership to buy alcohol there.

Call me a sinner, but I enjoy PBR, and it helps me stretch my budget. IMO it's better than the other AALs, and i don't mind mixing it up with higher quality beers. In fact, I think it helps me enjoy my craft beers even more.

Dude, when all else fails... 'Genesee Bock'!

Yeah, it isnt exactly mind blowing... But you can do a 12 pack each week and only drop $7. At a dollar a day, that down payment will be ready in no time!

PBR...........or drink less.......I mix PBR and Yuengling seasonals into my beer mix to save money. I like them so its a win win.The IPL and Summer wheat are great and $25 a case. I also like the Gannset 16oz coffee stout at $33 a case. Helps lessen the blow of a case of Supplication or some barrel aged stout.

    Enjoy

I cut back on drinking for health reasons and am now easily within the </= $50/month range. Once you start cutting back you'll be surprised how easy it becomes to stay away from the stuff and not drink as much. I still love my beer of course but I am definitely feeling better and have saved a lot of money.

I would just pick a favorite you know you can drink anytime and buy a case so that's 24 bees on hand right there. Then grab a 6 or 12 pack of something else and with a little planning on when you drink and how much in one sitting, you'll be set for a while.

I'll have to give my wife some credit now. She came home from grocery shopping with a sixer of Bells Hopsolution. Idk if this goes towards my $20 monthly allotment but it's a absolutely fantastic dipa!

For a time (about a year and a half) my wife was telling me "No more beer purchases until you drink what's in the basement." I've got 100+ beers cellaring. My reply was "So you're telling me you want me to drink more." She said "That's NOT what I'm saying." To which I said "That's what I CHOOSE to hear."

So although I did buy a beer here and there, for the most part I stayed to it and drank about 40 of the beers I was cellaring and cut way back on consumption. Until she started wanting me to buy here wine and/or vodka with more regularity. By this point I was no longer paying alimony and child support so I was better able to do so, and I started purchasing (and drinking) more.

I could and have done as you are suggesting, and I have good news. Yes, you can manage it, there are a lot of good $10 six-packs and maybe once in a while you can do a mix-a-six for variety. But there will come an end to the austerity plan and there will be a lot of good quality beers waiting for you, and you will have a greater appreciation for them having gone through the experience.

The 24 month beer project is 720 days. How do your in-laws feel about the price of craft beer? Have you thought about volunteering at ale festivals? I see your side of this as-- You,your wife,daughter,2nd child, in-laws, moving, and settling in versus finding quality craft beer on a budget. I think you can easily do the self imposed ten dollar a six pack challenge with some help.

I don't spend $50 a month right now. I'm looking for some great Pils supplemented by the occasional AAL.

Since you enjoy Narragansett, I would pick up a 30-pack of the 12-ounce cans ($20.99 or so), a 12-pack of your favorite SN or SA ($12.99 or so), and that would leave you with $16/month to spend on some of the higher end stuff.

That would give you roughly 50-54 beers a month.

I am doing this at the moment. I am on a Hiatus from Beer and other Alcoholic beverages altogether. When I do have a craving for a Beer, $1.89 a 25 ounce can of 211 sounds great to me!

I've been having trouble keeping it under $250 a month...

Could I do $50, I suppose it's possible but there would not be a lot of variety and well I could never drink outside of the home ($50 is a short night out). Could you drink great beer for $50 a month, for sure!

I think you'd just end up drinking beer once or twice a week (not a bad thing) and maybe pick up the odd nice bottle here and there. Realistically $100 a month is more like it.

I voted no because I wouldn't want to, but I certainly could. I'd be drinking far less which would probably be a good thing and I'm sure my liver would be giving me a few more high-fives than it currently does.

If my budget was cut to $50 per month I wouldn't spend it all on beer. I'd probably spend $13 on a bottle of Evan Williams, $5 on some decent ginger ale, and then spend the other $30+ on a couple of nice bombers and/or 6 packs.

I usually buy a few 24oz cans a week so it would be easy for me. I only buy fancy beer if I have guest or its a holiday. Or you can switch to liquor and stretch your $$$ farther
