The Abyss Deschutes 2014 release

I've seen it out here in la county. 17.99 though.

 

Has anyone in PA heard anything about this coming around? Deschutes was established in Phillly before they recently spread out so i'm assuming they would get the brunt of it. Hoping it gets out to York/Lanc!

 

You sure about that? They've always been in Bend, Oregon.

 

You aren't from PA so my post might not have made sense to you but Deschutes DISTRIBUTION has been established in Philly for a while and they recently spread to a larger part of the state lol

Yeah we've had pretty solid distro for pushing a year so i'm going to say thats off. It was around the end of Red Chair season that we picked it up. Black Butte, Chain Breaker, Fresh Squeezed, Black Butte XXVI, Mirror Pond, Twilight, Obsidian, etc have all been on shelves since then.

 

Just had one on Sunday, came across it at Wegmans for $13.99.

It was pretty good, but I wouldn't feel the need to purchase it again this year.

 

I thought 2013 Abyss was fantastic. Chicago area should be seeing it this week so the boys will compare 2013 vs 2014 on Friday and let you know.

 

Look for it this week. If I remember right, last year it hit Philly about the 1st week or 2nd week in December. Disappeared almost as fast as it appeared.

 

Really hope this hits Ohio. XXVI and Mirror Mirror have become shelf turds. I'd love to see Abyss sit around like that but I doubt it.

I just grabbed 2 bottles at Wegmans

 

I wasn't planning on grabbing any this year because of cost and effort involved. Then over Thanksgiving I bought a bottle in Orcutt, CA for $12.49 and enjoyed it much more than last year's. Went back and grabbed 2 more.

 

It's in Milwaukee. Grabbed a bottle to see what it was all about seeing as we just got distro recently.

 

Just hit Colorado... or at least this is the first I have heard of it hitting Colorado

 

I was disappointed in this years release. I've had on draft and in bottle. Seems to me like they mixed in a sour barrel to many to spread the wealth further. Doesn't change that I added a btl to my vertical still. I'm sitting on 07-14 now! Perks of being in the business I suppose.

 

I normally don't love Abyss, but I found a couple bottles for $13.99 at Wegmans and grabbed a few. Cracked one last night and I'm really glad I did. Way better than I remember in the past. Great, thick mouthfeel with huge chocolate flavors and a nice roastyness in the finish. Should age like a champ.

 

Just got 2 bottles in HB Orange County, 14.99 @ total wine, and 11.99 @ the whole foods right across the street.

 

Cracked one tonight and it's very good... But for me... it did not live up to the hype.
