Water and electrolytes to re-hydrate after aworkout with minimal (2.3%) alcohol involved. Exactly zero people will do this as the study was crafted.

Or I could just drink water and have a good beer later.

    WTF?

Sounds like a lot of effort for nothing really

Love a beer after a hard ride/run, but don't really need a special sports beer (which will likely not be nearly as satisfactory, and will probably only result in having a normal beer on top of the sports beer)

This. The guys I know that are enough into working out to care about everything this study talks about, wouldn't drink beer after a workout anyways.

Alcohol builds up acid in your system and causes inflammation. Don't drink beer immediately after a workout.

My muscles are always more sore when I drink on workout days.

I run 10K every other day and I like too have a cold beer after a liter of ice water. There's something about having a cold beer on a hot day while sweating like a pig that I enjoy.

IDK seem to me we all want to sit around and drink beer so if our perception of attractiveness were to coincide with this then would we be as healthy as we once thought? I do a bit of light yoga each day and drink beer about an hour and a half after.

No it doesn't. Alcohol will slow fat oxidation when in your system because the body focuses on oxidizing the alcohol first. After that it's business as usual. Alcohol does not magically change the energy balance equation.

All I know is that if I drink a beer BEFORE running I'll often get abdominal pain/side stitch during my run.

Back in the 70's a bunch of us would run 6-10 miles back and forth over the Thames 3 evenings a week after work, then retire to a pub to "re-hydrate". We exercised so we could drink. No sports medicine chaps to correct us then. Of course, back then I was half the man I am now.
