    Interesting. Thanks for the info.
I wonder if @Takeanotherswing "normally" drives from Connecticut to Brattleboro to pick up beer.

I’d say so. You’d be traveling to VT from out of state for non essential items, beer, etc.

“On March 30, Governor Scott ordered residents and non-residents coming from outside the state for anything other than an essential purpose to home-quarantine for 14 days...”

Why is this hard for people to wrap their heads around? Yes, breweries and liquor stores have been deemed essential, but why is it essential for you to cross state lines to get beer if you’re not going to follow the state’s guidelines of a 14 day quarantine? Is there not enough beer in each person’s state or local stores/breweries to satisfy consumption during this time?

This wasn't directed at CT specifically but overall people from NJ, MA, NY,etc. traveling far to grab a certain beer when most have multiple local options that would deliver to your doorstep.
I'm not gonna waste time on it but OEC is one with many options delivering to CT doorsteps..

yeah common sense / some semblance of social responsibility would stop people traveling long distances for beer. governor scott forgot that beer geeks are not normal tho - based on that thread in the main forum it seems like a “typical” beer run for some people involved 4+ hour round trips

Yep, Pre-COVID-19 I would typically go to HF for every Wednesday release but have held off since they requested instate or 14 day quarantine.

I get it, and it isn't that there is not enough beer locally to be happy with, it is also that it has never been so easy to get some beers that you would not normally be able to get. Foam and Hill Farmstead in White River Junction (which is 5 minutes across the border from NH) and guaranteed what you want at Treehouse with no concern about something running out or a 2 hour wait in line? It isn't difficult to see why people might go a little out of their way, especially when they are just looking for an excuse to get out.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but this was a question specific to VT, which has a 14 day quarantine order. Off the top of my head I don’t know of another state in New England with that stipulation. Otherwise, I’ve been on the side of, sure go to places, but I don’t see the need to travel multi hour round trips out of state for some beer during all this. That to me seems excessive and unnecessary.

I thought all the New England states had similar recommendations regarding out of state travelers. I know NH and ME do. VT has a bit stronger language and is much more specific though.
I have not been personally, but I do know that Lawson's Finest allows people from out of state to get curbside pickup of cans/bottles/kegs and does not mention anything about the 14 day quarantine prior for any out of state purchasers.
Not sure why people need to go either way though, a lot of the beer from these breweries is available at a lot of grocery stores, beer stores and gas stations currently, at least in my area.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure about others. Maybe it sticks out since it’s the most specific to that timeline.

And I wholeheartedly agree with you. I don’t see the need at all.

I just don't think a beer run is a big deal.
Whether it is out of state or not, if the person is wearing the proper ppe and taking the necessary precautions the risk is close to zero. A lot of these breweries have preorder with no contact pickup and have much better procedures in place than some grocery stores and restaurants.
As for the need to go on these runs, I think about it kind of like alimony. You get used to a certain lifestyle. Do you need to live like that? No but it is nice.
Full disclosure, I haven't left my house in a month except to go to the hospital. I wouldn't make any long distance beer trip but if someone really wanted to, I believe they could without having any effect on the pandemic.

Good analogy. My ex-wife stipulated that if I don’t have a specific amount of Treehouse on hand at any one time, then she will take me to court.

I happened to read that before going to CVS, which happens to be next to my favorite packie. I just ducked my head in and asked if they received any Alchemist. "Would be today if we do, but not yet. We'll post on social media." 1 hour later, they post that it'll be available at 6pm. 3 cases of each, only 2 cans of each per person. Hard pass. Oh well.

And if you weren't able to get to the store in a manner of seconds after its arrival - tough luck, it's all gone already. Which is fine by me, I got lucky and got some the 1st drop, but I'm not dropping everything to chase it all over the region.

My local pizza place/arcade is doing a special tonight for curbside pick up. You get one can each of Heady and Focal plus two other craft beers, a large cheese, a large curly fry and an arcade type prize for the kiddos for $30. Easy dinner choice for tonight
