They've never dated their cans. I'd be very surprised if they weren't fresh, though.

EDIT: Even if they weren't, both Heady and Focal hold up extremely well. I've drunk dozens of each over months of receiving them.

 

I’ve never seen dates on their cans and hen I use to trade for them. That was 2+ years ago. Maybe they should date them cans?

 

I think the point is that they just don't sit; not dating their cans isn't keeping anyone from buying them.

The only price I've seen was $23. But that place is always overpriced. Still would doubt they'll sell anywhere for less than $20. In SD, anyway.

 

Pretty sure he’s letting us know that the wholesale price to retailers is $14, not that retail price should be.

 

Yeah, so far my usual spots are $19.99 - 20.99. I am guessing there are a few going higher, but there is a reason I don't purchase beer there anymore.

 

Pretty sure they are less than $13 at the brewery, might be more nowadays. My point is, once distributors and freight are part of the picture, the cost will increase for any beer (whether it’s the Alchemist or swill). It’s like saying $35 for a bottle of Fou is a rip off.

 

Would you pay $80 for Fou? I got a place for you then.

 

I’m sure they are cheaper at the brewery, and I’m not claiming that retailers should be pricing the beer at their cost. I am, however, glad to know that the cost for retailers in CA is $14 so I can avoid what I’d consider egregious markups ($28, for instance).

 

Now that is a rip off. Passed on it at APEX bar multiple times at that price point. Had I never tried it, maybe I’d splurge.

 

Or trading and paying at least 2x cost in shipping. I’d pay $25 for a fresh 4-pack without blinking.

 

Last time I was out there it was $16 at the brewery. Have they dropped the price because of increased production? Even at $20 locally it's no different than buying MT, Mumford, HPB, etc.

 

No northern California. Sad.

 

Haven’t had Crusher or Focal Banger yet but Heady was spot on when fresh. One of the best I had at the time. That was over 2 years ago. Worth $16/20/24 for a 4pk? Yes. Better than those mentioned above? Yes. Are there better IPA’s today other than HT? Yes. Before Heady there was the Elder and before Elder there was Blind Pig. Those 3 IPA’s and OG Nelson should be considered World Class beers.
