The Alchemist coming to CA

Heady Topper has always had that magical touch to it. Nothing else quite tastes the same.

Now... all the murky stuff coming out of every other niche spot tastes verrrrrryyyyy similar. Not very unique.

 

Yes. I prefer a good Head over the Haze anytime. Nothing wrong with a haze every now and then. But that head tops haze hands down.

 

But west is still best gunz?

 

Of course west is best. Nothing like them SoCal with a some Head once and a while. But how often do we get Head here?

This claims they're canned on 5/7. If true, that's pretty damn fresh.

 

Jen said it was canned on the 7th in the LA/OC Bottleshop thread, so, yeah....pretty damn certain that is correct.

 

So it's after-the-fact but Heady Topper, Crusher, Focal Banger were all available via K&L Wines for a 4 minute period earlier today, so us NorCal folk could get in on the action. I was lucky enough to see it and maxed my allocation (2 Headys, 1 Crusher, 1 Focal), but within the next minute or two, those beers were sold out.

 

Anyone had Crusher?

 

I did and maybe it was just my can BT it was full of disgusting floaties. We eat/drink with our eyes and this was so disgusting looking. Looked like dirty water. I didn’t enjoy the taste either. Really harsh west coast style IPA. I couldn’t finish it.
Maybe it was just my can. But I’m happy I got one can.
But I wonder if this is why they say to drink Heady from the can; so you don’t see how disgusting it looks?

 

I had both Heady and Focal today and they looked fine. No floaties big enough to be noticeable, anyway.

 

Had the chance to visit their facility at Stowe, VT before. They sold out the Crusher in cans, I only lucked out with tiny tasters (they don't do full pours) of Crusher and I remembered tasting incredible. But Heady was so ubiquitous that you could order them by the cans at the Burlington airport.

 

Tried the three yesterday. ....Crusher was the only one I liked. I liked Focal Banger at some point, but, it just didn't do it for me any more.

 

Heady always had pretty gnarly floaties, but I drank the shit out of them and loved every minute of it

 

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere so I have to ask: Is this supposed to be regular distribution to CA or is ot a one-time thing? I'd love to be able to pick some up on my next trip out.

 

It was stated that it would be 1-2 drops per year, likely to test the market. I doubt we would be seeing it more often than that.

Edit: My mistake 2-3x per year when distro is slow in Vermont.

Over the years I've had way more than my fair share of all of them from generous east coast friends. I just felt zero need to search these out. Solid beers for what they are but not a must have for me anymore.
