you're spot on with a lot here, but the easiest way to avoid TBBW being a shit show is to just stop going to the events that are going to be a shit show. there were hundreds of good events that weren't targets for dumbass beer geeks

My Grandma came with me to the BAIGCCS release, but not to get me an extra bottle. She just likes good beer and wanted to try it. We ended up drinking it around noon that day with my grandpa. Also, I'd prefer online sales over the line, keeps from pissing off the neighbors.

I got in line at 7:05 and was about 25 short of getting a bottle.

You really think stopping people from drinking in line will cut down the people that show up?

Maybe not the total number, but a lot of the people would not come as early and it certainly would cut down on some of the problems in the neighborhood like noise..garbage...peeing in people's yards...etc

Leaning on people's cars, putting bottles and glass and plastic cups on peoples cars and sidewalks, leaving empties behind on the grass, sidewalks, and even in the streets just waiting to pop some tires.

We did share, admittedly. We tried to do so responsibly and encourage others to do so as well, but it was clear not everyone doing so cared about being orderly, respectful or cleanly within that neighborhood.

However, nothing you can do when the beer crowd outnumbers pretty much any other population in that immediate vicinity for a short period. Crowds seemed to dictate course of action everywhere all week. The breweries (and authorities, seemingly) submitted to their will every day.

Definitely does in VA (especially at Hardywood, since the state ABC commission is across the street), they crack down on drinking in line, and the lines are much shorter because of it.

People don't want to sit outside all night if they can't drink. I thought that was a lot of people's justification of why lines were good, so you could drink and share 'camaraderie' with other people that shared your hobby.

Honestly....I'd have to see that to believe it. Haha.

I can't imagine the line being reduced for ac tbbw much if at all

Yeah. Not really talking about VA.

As I said above....Couldn't imagine the tbbw at ac would be shorter by much if at all

The only way to kill the line would be if they exponentially ramped up production to the point of consistently not having a limit on the line. There's less incentive to camp out when you can show up after the shit show and get your desired number of bottles. This would also deal a pretty hefty blow to the secondary due to supply getting closer to demand. Part of the hype they have is based on the limited size of the batches.

They could also set you on fire if they catch you reselling. I bet that would nip the problem right in the bud.

.....that would be a motivated seller

In all practicality they can’t just increase production. This takes time. And their bottle sales are a cash cow. They just need a way to avoid the neighborhood issues. Which is most likely silent releases (until they become less silent... like cycle pallet 1&2) and then find an off-site option. I’m sure they knew it would be packed but how do you turn down the money... they went with the act now apologize later choice. I guess we will see what’s next... AC bottle release this weekend? Too soon...?
