This may be a stupid question, but here goes.

I'm in the area (well, a bit south - 2.5ish hours south), and I'm looking at making a trip up at some point. I was wondering if crowlers ever sell out, or how that works exactly. I'm more than likely going to be there around 12-2pm on any day I can make it, so fairly early still.

Should there be a release of anything on a day that I can make it in, how long do releases normally last? Sell out same day or do they last for a few days?

    Any information is greatly appreciated!

I think this post has some if not all of the info you are looking for: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...rewpub-richmond-va.511303/page-7#post-6092051

Thanks, I did read that a week or two ago, but did not internalize some of it. That certainly answers the Joose question. What about other releases though. Do they not do normal can releases? Was wondering also about - I guess - if they just happened to do a "special" release that's not something that they normally rotate through, what the probability was of it selling out quickly.

Sorry, I'm sure these are at least moderately silly questions. I'm very noob about these breweries.

I do not recall them doing can releases - house brewed beers are usually available in crowlers and they release certain andalls a couple of times a week (from my recall).

The Answer does not do any 12oz/16oz cans. Their house IPAs are available for Crowler fills every day. They have been doing some 12oz flip top bottle releases of a few Stouts and other Andalls in very limited numbers lately but it's not really on a regular schedule. They typically post on Instagram the day before or the day of. If they happen to announce a glass release for a certain day then that will definitely cause a line to form early but other than that you do not necessarily need to show up super early for Joose release. It's typically the Stouts and glasses that cause people to show up and line up early.

The Answers taplist is also on Untappd and updated regularly. Usually late night around closing or a little bit before opening each day.

One whatever day you show up before opening just go around the front of the building to enjoy all that Mekong offers. They open at 11am every day I believe. They also have Andalls and guest taps completely different than what you will find at The Answer but they don't do fills of any kind.

Another stop to consider is Final Gravity. They are not too far away from The Answer or The Veil. Open at 2pm Tues - Thurs and 11am Fri - Sun.

What do they typically charge for crowlers?

All Joose Crowlers are $20+tax. House IPAs generally run $10-$13 for the most part. They have cost listed on their Untappd menu

This may be a dumb question - as I thought I knew the answer before talking to a few people - but can you only get crowlers on certain days? I thought Joose was only available in crowlers 3 days a week, but I thought you could get crowlers of anything else any day of the week.

    Is this correct?

Mostly, but "anything else" is limited to hoppy beers, they very rarely do stout crowlers.

    Thanks.

When I was looking, they had 1 stout and one adjuncts brown Ale both listed with growler prices. Does this mean they don't crowler those? I just assumed same cost for crowler and growler?

I'd be surprised if they don't crowler the same things they growler (might be $1 more?).
His point was more that with the exception of joose days, the majority of the time their take away beers are the house IPA's. And apparently currently a brown. But rarely do they have their adjunct stouts available to go and if they do, they are random very-limited-gone-in-2-hours, type things. Like yesterday for example, they announced at 4 an adjunct stout pre-filled growler and it was gone by 6-ish.

    Gotcha! Thanks a bunch!

I think I will be planning to go this Sunday. Fingers crossed that they have a stout around .

Don't get your hopes up. Their Andall stouts are extremely flavorful but they're usually extremely sweet too. I used to love them but then I made the mistake of ordering a flight one time and it was like getting caught smoking by your parents and being forced to smoke a whole pack. I don't know what I would do with 32 oz of Andall stout.

Haha. It wasn't an andall that they had a couple days ago. Just had like 2 additions I think, no Barrel either.

I am allergic to nuts, so presently there's only I think 1 stout they have on right now to try =/

I have never done a full flight of Andall stouts but man that sounds so rough. I typically only get 1 andall stout in a flight and even then I make someone with me have some. I know that they do the 32oz stout crowlers on some of their stuff but but I think they've been doing Andall growler releases lately that are smaller ~12oz growlers. That I could get behind for something like Fluffernutter or whatever.

I just saw that their instagram account has a picture of a RYU glass.

I assume glasses sell out same day no matter what?

I guess maybe a better question to ask is if it did go on sale today?

I was wondering if anyone can speak to parking. I'll be driving a large work truck (F150 with a cap + rack), and was wondering how difficult parking might be on Sunday around open.

(Have the same question for Veil, but thought there might be enough cross over that someone could speak to both even though this is the Answer thread).

Parking will not be a problem. They have a huge parking lot in the back of the building. I made the mistake of parking in the front when I first visited....very limited spots. If you go around the back you will find the real entrance and a really big parking lot. I was there Sunday at open in early June and was one of 4 cars in the large lot.

parking at the Veil is not as easy, its street parking so its hit or miss depending on when you go. You should be able to find something within 3 blocks or so though.
