This was the only problem I had when I visited too.

 

Have never been but planning on checking this place out on the afternoon of 10/19 en route to Hampton, VA for the weekend. How busy should I expect this place to be early afternoon on a Friday? Are crowlers always available? I saw on the website that Joos is only available certain days of the week?

Not busy, IPA crowlers are always available, Joose crowlers are 2 days a week, I can’t remember if its Tuesday and Sunday or Thursday and Sunday.

 

Joose crowlers are Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday. IPA crowlers everyday like beernuts said. I think it won’t be bad early afternoon Friday. I have been to the answer only on weekends and it has never been that busy for me.

 

This is one of the only Answer glasses I have and I adore it. I completely overlooked this post. I sorta kinda really wanted that but was way behind 100 other folks.

Early Fridays at Answer are great and in my somewhat limited experience are not crowded at all. I've been able to post up at the bar with a friend or two without issue every time and even if the bar is full there have been tons of open tables. I wouldn't worry.

Also of note if you're not just looking for Joose, Triple Crossing opens at noon on Fridays too and do can releases from their Fulton location that are almost always easy in/out, typically have great hop cans. I generally prefer their hops to Answer, but Answer hops have greatly improved over the past 6+ months or so imho. From Fulton you're right at 1.5 hours from Hampton (assuming the Coliseum).

 

Do they only release crowlers on Tuesdays? Im headed to RVA tomorrow (Wed) and want to grab some to go.

 

You can get crowlers of the Answer series beers any day (IPA's). You can only get Joose crowlers on Tue, Thurs, Sun. No crowlers of the Andall series (stouts). You could get lucky with a surprise release but they are unpredictable. Someone else may add to this if things have changed since I last went. TomCat (above) is very knowledgeable regarding the RVA scene.

Damn, starting off in outer space with that pricing.

 

I get the argument that Joose crowlers are $20 so this isn’t out of line with that. But man, $7/can is steep for non ba stout. Still would like to try one though.

 

Hopefully the rain will keep people away, but I doubt it.

 

Pretty quick sale, small line, might be a few allotments left, but everyone showed up just before noon.

Damn good on draft as well.
