I heard The Answer was now contract brewing with Beltway in the DC area. Anyone with any insight or confirmation of this?

Beltway has a Berliner from Answer on tap. I take that as a confirmation.

The Answer uses other brewery's berliners/goses for their andalls anyway, so that makes sense. I would be disappointed if I heard they were brewing hoppy beers there, though.

That's an interesting opinion. Why do you say that? Just not a fan of contract brewing in general?

Will be heading to Richmond next weekend for the first time. Excited to visit the Answer. If I am interested in Crowlers, does it matter if I am there on a Thursday or a Tuesday? Does one day seem to dry up earlier than another? I assume there is no real way to know what is available in advance. Just trying to figure out if I leave early to get there Thursday or hang around until Tuesday. It will be the Tuesday of Thanksgiving/Black Friday week so not sure if that makes a difference or not.

    Thanks for any input.

    - If you are talking about Thursday next week (Thanksgiving) then The Answer will almost definitely be closed.

    - The always have enough JOOSE to cover just about all day on JOOSE release days (Tues / Thurs). They have started have pre-filled Crowlers of a bunch of Joose but if something happens to run out on tap then it's replaced by a different flavor. They typically update their Untappd taplist around 11 or Noon on these days. It's a separate "menu" so you'll have to look at the "Joose Crowlers (date)" menu to know what's available.

    - Their IPAs are available for Crowlers every day and are unlimited.

    - I would not be surprised if they announced the official release of 'I Like Turtles' (collab w/ Bottle Logic) next week so keep an eye out for that. That could even be a Black Friday thing (just a guess). Might even have some limited Crowlers of it. That could very well happen tomorrow too. Nothing confirmed yet.

    - if BCBS is your thing then that may also be released next week as week on Black Friday

    - Be sure to also walk around the front of the building and check out Mekong when you're in town as well.

Your timing is off, Thanksgiving/Black Friday are 2 weeks away, not next week.

DOH! That's probably the 4th or 5th time I have done that in the past week! My bad!

Yep I will be there the weekend of the 18th/19th. Trying to decide if I come early on Thursday the 16th or stay until Tuesday the 21st.

Probably does not matter much unless they just happen to release a glass (if these are your thing) or new IPA. You really cannot make a wrong choice most likely but the biggest thing that could impact your decision is opening time. The Answer opens at 4pm on Tues and Noon on Thurs.

Then there are days like today where people are lining up at 8:30 to get a crowler and a glass and they blow through them in under an hour. I'm happy they're getting this attention but I'd like to see them scale up a bit. 100 glasses and 150 crowlers dropped at noon on Thursday cuts out a lot of people.

The good news, at least, is their draft list is always so good that it's impossible to get through everything I want to try.

People lined up early because they released I Like Turtles and the glass to go with it. You can't really use today as a data point for a normal Thursday. If they didn't release the stout it would be just like any other Thursday. No line.

The Crowler was $20. Not sure about the glass but I saw a few posts where people said it was also $20. That's a pricey glass for sure if that is true. Probably the most expensive (retail) I've heard of a glass going for lately.

No direct confirmation but a bunch of fruited Kromer Juice (berliner base) keg collar labels just showed up on TTB earlier this week. I would take this as pretty confident they are contract brewing this somewhere since there's no way all of these could be brewed at their facility to much scale.
