It's time for another crowd sourced Averagely Perfect project. This pre-project poll will select the style for this project from among the five front runners in the -> suggestion thread <-.

    Straight plurality wins this poll.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

Timing of a normal recipe creation makes this a summer time beer . . . who wants a stinkin' IS in July, or for that matter a mild/ESB? To make an authentic Kolsch you have to put "dots" over the o (ö) . . . who has time for that? Simple solution is Hefeweizen for the win!

I already made my Hefe. Have a pale I want to tinker with so learning some bitter skills from the group would make my day. ESB for me.

Also guess this kind of project is new to me. I have seen that you guys have done them before, but never paid much mind to them, this time I am going to at least read/watch from the start.

I'd take an esb over a hefe year-round

I think the ESB or Mild would make for the most interesting discussion associated with the ensuing polls. As far as Hef or Kölsch go, these are not styles with as much potential variation (IMHO). I voted ESB because it is one of my favorite styles. I'm personally not all that interested in IS, but that would also make for lively debate, I imagine. Cheers!

I could get behind any one of these, but ESB feels right for me as it is something I want to brew but haven't yet planned. In contrast, I just kegged a mild last month and I have some Kolsch-like cream ales planned out already. I also have a wheat beer planned (albeit, not a hefe). I rarely drink an RIS and the last stout I made has sat around for way too long. The problem with this hobby is finding the time to drink it in.

I'll bite the bullet and say imperial stout. It will need to be aged and seems to me the style that would benefit most from crowd sourced opinions.

I admit that it seems as though kolsch and hefeweizen would not benefit from crowdsourcing as much as something like ESB or RIS, but I would like to see a really laid-back crowdsourced beer, particularly one that is yeast or malt driven instead of hop-driven, so I'll vote for whichever of them is most likely to win (currently hefe, but I'll switch my vote if it looks as though kolsch is more likely to win... the perils of first-past-the-post voting).

I vote for ESB, I want to try out the new London ESB dry yeast.

I'll vote for mild just because there are so few commercial examples. I'm curious to hear what you all have to say.

I'm not particularly interested in brewing any of these styles right now, nor do I have any experience brewing them in the past (except for a terrible extract kolsch, which was my second ever brew) . As excited as I was to participate in an AP recipe from start to finish, I think I'll be sitting this one out. :slight_frown:

I'd be interested in a session IPA, extra pale ale, American pilsner, or something like that. Spring is already in full swing here! Depending which way it goes, an ESB could work, so that's my vote.

Mild, just in time for session brew day

I was somewhat torn between ESB and Kolsch. The lighter Kolsch would be welcomed compared to the louder coffee porter and IPA that I have on tap currently. But I think I'm more interested in exploring the ESB with this group.

    Thanks, again, VikeMan!

I brew a kolsch and a mild all the time, so looking for something different. Not a huge fan of hefes, and certainly couldn't drink 5 gallons. I don't think a big stout would be ideal for summer, so ESB it is! I've never brewed one, and have been exploring English ales lately so should be right up my alley.

Oh and thanks for taking the reins on this again VikeMan!

FWIW, I've brewed two RIS ever and brewed both of them in March, kegged in April or May, and tapped them in November. That schedule worked well for me.

I voted ESB because that is a style that I really enjoy drinking but I have never brewed.

There was a sort of crowd sourced mild not too long ago. IIRC folks voted on one of several historical recipes that Ron Pattinson published

That was for AK which was the bitter of its day I think

I've been wanting to brew a version of Gales HSB for a while but might be tempted by whatever ESB we can throw together instead

The last ESB I did was a crowd sourced ESB that was put together by Jims Beer Kit, it was rather good. That was over a year ago :grimacing:
