De Garde's Bu Weisse is the best one I've had...

Destihl doesn't make beer. They make liquid malt vinegar popcorn.

Haven't tried Counterclockweisse but nothing I have had from Destihl has impressed me so far. I am unaware of a bad batch of the Gose...hopefully the cans I sent out in a recent BIF don't taste like this description. :astonished:

I also thought Victory Kirsch Gose was a watery mess with artificial cherry flavoring. Maybe I have been spoiled by Westbrook and De Garde Hose variants. :sunglasses:

Somehow I missed the Live Oak Berliner...is it still around Austin anywhere? I also need to try that Black Star offering if I can make it up there. Red Bud is pretty good; I will definitely crush many of those over the summer.

If you bought cans from when they first hit Austin, it's the bad batch. The new batch hit last week.

I enjoy the Floridaweisse beers of the TPA area - Cigar City, Coppertail and Cycle. This week had easily ten brews of the style. "A Beer Named Sue", prickly pear Berlinerweisse from CCB was excellent. They have really developed their style over the past 4 years. "Obey Your Thirst" lemon-lime Floridaweisse from Coppertail also stood out to me.

The gose smelled like stinky feet. The Berliner on the other hand was refreshing lemony and delicious!

I'm moving back to Texas next month. I REALLY hope the Live Oak Berliner is still around.

I tried RedBud again, and I still think it tastes like a Berliner Weisse/Riesling hybrid. I'll look for Live Oak's offering.

I loved the Live Oak version the first time I had it. Then the second and third time, I got a big diacetyl finish much like the Distihl Counterclockweiss.. Maybe this is just a quality of the style? It seems like Berliners are exploding like session IPA's did last year, so my comparative analysis may be low.

What's the word on Live Oak's Berliner? Are they making a bunch of it? Is it Austin only?

I personally didn't get diacetyl from distihl but
parmesan. It's definitely not a quality of the style, but it's an issue that can occur because of a sour mash.

It's more of the same batch, at least what I saw. #182

Really happy to see all the Berliner love (and all the new options available).

For anyone curious, Einhorn should be ready in late June to early July.

I'd heard it was a new batch, but wasn't able to verify. The cans I saw at HEB had smeared printing :/. I didn't pick up any.

Thought I was the only one who experienced this. Good to know it's a bad batch, bad to know I ended up with some

Anyone try he new batch of Destihl Gose? Think it's labeled Batch 194.

The batch of Here GOSE Nothin' you're referring to - with a little more funk - is batch 182. We have disposed of all the inventory we had from that batch and recently shipped a fresh batch to Texas that would be 191 or 194. The risk with ‘wild’ beers’ is that something too wild can happen by starting each batch from scratch, so we have put in place a more enclosed system to maintain and feed our own wild, house lacto strain that we know is good & happy. While some enjoy and seek out beers with these qualities, we want more of a lemon/lime acidity and certainly less funk.
