What is the best beer you've made? and have you been able to consistently recreate it?

I can't narrow it down to just one, had to pick a top six.

Lessons learned is more important than top choices tho, that's why I listed them. One thing I'll note: I will buy fresh hops again next harvest, and brew the same recipe again (with whatever fresh hops I can get, a pound and a half at flameout and nothing but golden promise malt). It's quite satisfying that one of my best beers was my most expensive (by far).

Not sure I know. The longer I do this the more often I say "that might be the best one yet." I think that just means you reach a point where things tend to be pretty good and you live in the moment. As for consistency, I don't think I ever quite did the same beer twice.

I think my champion beer has been a Maibock. It's the only beer that I've brewed more than once, and it's been the same great flavor each time. I wanted to do it this spring, but this winter weather has cramped my ability to get it done before extensive travel plans get in the way.

I haven't tried to repeat any of them yet, but my favorites have been....

    English Nut Brown Ale
    Belgian Strong Golden Ale
Belgian Specialty Ale (rye saison w/ d2 candi syrup and noble dry hops)
    English Mild Ale
    Various IPA's
    Various Pepper Beers

Tie between my "Le Betit Bonhomme" which is basically an Orval clone but clocking in at just under 4% ABV, and my "Saison Maison" which is very very similar to Saison D'Epeautre from Brasserie de Blaugies. I've only done "Le Betit Bonhomme" once, but I've done the saison recipe 4 times now.

Not including commercially brewed beers, my best was a barleywine that has been aging for almost 5 years now. It was 100% Maris Otter, 1.141 OG, 100 calculated IBU with Northern Brewer, and fermented with Wyeast 1028

Until about a week ago I had nothing to brag about. I've been all-grain for a year now and each beer has been better than the last, but I am also highly critical of my brewing, so nothing has really "lit me up" until I brewed my "Gneiss Hefeweizen". I think I knocked it out of the park. I was looking for something that would bring me back that afternoon long ago in Munich where I sampled some poppy-seed strudel (you've got to try it to believe how good it is!) and later had a Schneider Weiss. Oh my! Well, my hefeweizen didn't quite make it into the beer hall where I had the Schneider, but I did get the feeling that I was in Munich!

This is my third attempt at a hefe, but first all-grain; the first two were extract and certainly not as good. This is going to be the first of my house beers, and I can't wait till I can brew it again!

My best is a Kolsch style. I haven't made it in a while cause I have other recipes I want to try but I'm going to go back to it one day and perfect it. It was my best and I'm most impressed with it but I still just want it to be better. Was able to get a consistent taste with it. It was so easy to drink and easy to make too.

The most and the best beer I have made is Belgian Witbier. thank's to Wyeast Labs 3944, the very same yeast vile ferment in any Brooklyn temperature summer and winter. re-pitching the yeast same vile over and over again, top cropping, bottom harvesting everything go's. I am proud and enjoy grate beers for eight month.
Any variation produce a excellent beer.

I'm on the same page with pweis909. More and more often, it seems, the last one I made was one of the best, kind of losing sight of the fact that the previous one was also one of the best. Consistency makes all the difference. I don't worry so much about how my beers will turn out like I did years ago.

Did a honey saison a year ago and every time I crack one I almost orgasm. And I've also almost caused a riot at my mother-in-laws house because people were clamoring for it!

I've haven't made a beer that made me say wow in a long time. I think it might be the water in my new home, I might have to go back to using spring water. 5$ seems like a small price to pay for better beer

If you're doing all grain (I think you are) and you're thinking of going to Spring Water, I'd recommend going to Distilled/RO instead. About the same price, and you can build your mineral profiles starting with a clean slate.

Interestingly, the two best beers I have made both involved coconut, a coconut porter and coconut IPA. The base I used for the coconut porter is delicious; makes a great standalone porter and has stood up well to other secondary additions.
