Sierra Nevada Torpedo pretty much owns this for me, along with Old Rasputin and anything Stone makes.

I agree that both of those are outstanding as well as Founders Dirty Bastard

So, to answer the question using the list above... some of my top choices would be Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Torpedo, North Coast Old Rasputin, and Ommegang Hennepin.

If a beer is brewed in Michigan, and no one from California is around to drink it, does it even count?

Two of my favorite beers of all time are Saison Dupont and Schneider Avetinus. Both are outstanding.

In that case, I vote Cantillon.

Also, have to mention SN Bigfoot. While it is only released Feb(?) it is around all year and always tastes great.

They may be tiny, but sometimes it's surprising how widely distributed a brewer can be. They're probably not in 40 states, but they may be in more states than you think. They claim on their website that ``AleSmith beer is distributed throughout the United States by a variety of distributors'', but it doesn't say which states or how many. I know their beer can be found in Ohio (that's where I go to get it). I believe they are also in Pennsylvania and a few other Northeastern States.

Does anyone out there know how many states Alesmith is in?

Anderson Valley Hop Ottin: lack of dates be damned, this is one tastey, hoppy brew. Let's venture into Imperial Stout territory: Old Rasputin= owned!

What a badass distribution list. Thanks nickd717!

Also, using that list, I'd say Ommegang Hennepin and Three Philosophers.

EDIT: I'll throw Duvel in there as well.

Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, Trappistes Rochefort 10, and Duvel. Most of the widely available beers seem to be imports.

Pyramid Outburst. This stuff if pretty great. I only bought it because it was $7.99 for a sixer of imperial IPA and it turned out to be freakin wonderful. One of my go to beers now.

    Goose Island Sofie.

    All day, everyday.
$10 per 4 pack, available everywhere.
It's great fresh or aged-- I've had it at 2 days old and as old as 28 months and at virtually every stage between.

Not necessarily. I think people are just mentioning their favorite beers that are year rounds. A lot of the beer/breweries mentioned aren't distributed here in FL either. That's why I mentioned the beers I did in my original post, because to my knowledge (and I may be wrong) they are available almost everywhere in the US.
