I don't think I'll be able to make it since I'll be at the Ommegang Hop Chef Competition, but there's a slight chance I'll make it after. Figured I'd put this up here for the rest of the BAers.

I've been told by a beer distributor friend at Tri-Valley that they're opening with "a beer list you will cream in your pants over". Here's a teaser of the beer list from Facebook (so far nothing that's making me moist):

Very excited about this place...any word on the draft list (besides what in chalk above)? The owner doesn't seem to be releasing any detailed info on fb or his webpage for the place about the selection of brews.

    I spoke too soon.

Some decent ones...curious about the 2 nitro's, some nice saison's too.

Um...its a decent list but maybe my 'cream my pants' standards are too high.

Not sure where the cream your pants quote came from but the draft list is solid. Lava is a pretty amazing beer. Nuggets Nectar is great this time of year if you run it through whole Nugget hops. While I don't really go gaga for Nitro stuff, Nitro
Gknight is pretty nice. Ever had the Posca Rustica? Quite nice. All the Dupont stuff is top.notch as well as the De Glazen Toren.

Anywho, we will be doing our thing with the draft list, sliding from more Belgian to less; more American to less. To be honest, what is available upstate does not really make me completely happy. I have some work to do.

We will slowly develop our draft list, add some bottles and food is coming soon. Hope to see some new BA faces in soon even though we had some good ones in last night.

    Thanks
George - owner and long time BA

I do apologize George if I have offended your list but like I said, its a decent list but to me, its not as explosive as previously stated above. I dont get excited for lists that have beers that I can purchase on tap at other places or in bottles. I give you credit for really having a nice mix of some fine belgian and american brewers...plus the fact that you are hitting a market where the pickings are slim (ie. Schnectady). Its not a knock on your new establshment by any means but if everyone came in bowing down to your list, then you wont be forced to push the envelope a little further. Feel free to punch me in the face when I do show up and then we can laugh about over a pint afterwards.

George, made my spontaneous first visit last night around 10:30. Amazing time. Spencer was extremely hospitable and I spent most of the night hanging with Chad from Tri-Valley and sharing beers, stories (and Perreca's pizza) with the rest of the patrons. I snapped a few pics last night but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. I'll post them on my blog and link here when I do. Thanks for the experience and I wish you luck on your new venture (not that you'll need it!).

    Just wish I lived closer!

What sort of hours is it open? My wife is traveling to Schenectady for work the week of the 25th and I'm tagging along since I have the week off. Our hotel is on state st and it looks like a short walk. If your open for lunch is love to stop in.

If we go out at night it has to be to my old hangout from my days living in Troy.

Great photos! Love, love, love the metal artwork. Heading in that direction this weekend, so will have to stop in tomorrow or Monday.

Thanks for the great photos! I heard I missed some cool folks who figured out how to get some pizza when all hope seemed lost! We just worked some food in on Friday and Saturday. Menu will get moving along a bit soon...

We are going to work into full operation. I'd like to do lunch during the week and be open 7 days. This week we are looking at opening 4-close Mon-Wed and then from 11:30-close Thurs-Sat or Sunday.

Damn! I suppose I'll have to visit on my next trip. Closed today for Father's Day and I was planning on heading back to Syracuse early afternoon tomorrow. :slight_frown:

Just wanted to chime in and say I've been here many, many times over this past week while staying in Schenectady with the Mom and I'm in Beer Bar Love. I can't speak for the food, as I'm a non-meat eater, but have been thoroughly impressed with the beer selection and the space (and the bartenders!) and absolutely love that they'll do 4oz pours of everything. I'll be a regular whenever I make the trip from Syracuse. Nice job, Bier Abbey!

I think Fujii13 goes there quite frequently too and speaks highly of the place (and I believe he is also a vegetarian too).

Good to hear. I hope they stick around for awhile! Haven't run into him, that I know of, but I tend to go at weird normal-working-people hours when possible. Like 2pm. Their frites are tasty and I was a fan of the BeerBBQ sauce that came with.

Agreed, but the fact of the matter is all these new places opening up in the area all have to use the same distributors we all know and love. So you're really not going see anything really new or unique. The top bars get to cherry pick the 'good stuff' but its still rarely anything crazy...the distribution in this area just kinda sucks plain and simple. In order to see truly unique stuff I'd say we'd have to have someone bringing kegs up from the city and elsewhere, which is rarely worth the effort.
