After the (rightful) lockdown of the "Sticky Hands - bad batches" thread, and my perhaps ill-advised Hop Shop thread, it seems Block 15 could use a general discussion thread. So here it is.

Hey Chief! Let's talk. Why not?

    * The new batch of "regular" Sticky Hands is out this week. While it's sad to see Tropical Slam go, it's pretty exciting to hear they're brewing this new "regular" batch with Yakima-grown Amarillos. Really looking forward to this one. I can see myself drinking a ton of this.

    * The Incredible - an Imperial Double IPA (aka Triple IPA? It's 11%) and Fortuitous Red Farmhouse Ale are being released this weekend. I'll be at Hellshire, but depending on my condition, I may try to convince my DD (aka "wife") to swing by on our way home to pick up some of each of those, assuming they're not already sold out. I've had The Incredible in previous releases and I'm definitely glad it's back. And I'm always excited to see something new from the B15 wild/sour program.

Frankly, I don't have any feelings one way or another about the loss of tropical slam. I found it to be fairly similar to the regular sticky hands, which has been routinely excellent for some time now.

To be completely honest... when I first moved back here in 4/13 and started drinking Sticky Hands on a fairly regular basis, I always felt the beer was overhyped and over rated. While it was OK (some of the batches were better than others), it was one of those beers that I would typically do a "one and done" each time a new batch came out. The original tropical slam was the exception, as I really felt that beer stood out (and apparently so did everyone else in the NW). However, it really seems as if B15 has stepped up their game since the "bad batches" sequence, and I now order it pretty much whenever I see it (which thankfully, is now pretty often). I don't know what in the world they did to tweak the recipe and make it so damn good now, but all I can say is "thank you very much Block 15."

By the way guajolote. Whatever else you try at Hellshire this Saturday, be sure to try the Cherry Imagine. If that beer isn't the best thing Block 15 has ever made, it's certainly in the running for that honor.

How long are Sticky Hands cans hanging around in Portland these days? I'll be down on the 26th for the Farmhouse Fest. Any chance I might find some still?

It sits around Belmont station in a big stack for at least a week or two after delivery. They've either kicked up delivery quantities, or the hype has died down a bit. Either way, it's pretty easy to find. Imperial typically has it sitting around as well.

Thanks! We're taking the Bolt Bus down, so relying on public transportation in Portland. Planning on doing the Great Notion, Tin Bucket, Upright (then who knows where we'll end up. Maybe Commons and/or Beer Mongers) loop after Saraveza before we catch our 6:30pm ride home. Belmont is a bit out of the way, but we'll see.

Beer Mongers should have cans of it as well, though not quite in the quantity of Belmont.

I don't get up that way as much as I once did, but I would recommend taking a look at the New Seasons over on NE 33rd, and maybe even Concordia Alehouse. For that matter, I would think that Saraveza might well be a place where you could find some cans.

Those big stacks can be deceiving, but I assure you it's not sitting around. We typically burn through 40 cases in 9-10 days, so there's a 4-5 day span where we're out between deliveries.

In any case, they're currently delivering every other Wednesday, and the next load should arrive on 23rd, so there shouldn't be any problem finding it the weekend of the Farmhouse fest.

Last year during Farmhouse Fest they weren't doing retail sales of anything in the store. Kinda figured it the same situation this year.

I bought my wife several canned/bottled IPAs when we went to last year's event. Seems weird to me that they would sell beer for in-house consumption but not to-go.

I didn't push very hard on it, bar staff was pretty busy and I just let it go.

Are you guys expecting to get cans of "The Incredible"? Curious if it is seeing limited distro.

I was told "maybe, if we don't sell it all at the release." It was a full size (30bbl?) batch, but apparently they only canned 80 something cases, so I assume there will be kegs available.
