Yeah, I'd take Sticky Hands and IHS over the Consortium, but still really enjoyed it and recommend to IHS fans. Will have to stop by Uptown on my way home today if IHS is still on.

I checked today, looks like it is gone (which sucks cause I would go back for more).

We got a keg of Consortium a few days ago. It'll probably go on in the next couple of days.

You getting funky hands by chance? I thought it was brewery only, but sounds like it hit some bars in eugene...

I'm pretty certain that funky hands is this year's 16 tons anniversary beer (last year it was the Logsdon Szech n Brett). So that's why they have it on tap, as well as bottles of it (or at least they did).

No Funky Hands, but the Consortium 8 went on yesterday.

That is correct. The bottle even has the 16 Tons logo on the side of the bottle. It is (or was, at least) also available in bottles at the Block 15 locations.

Lets see if I can answer the questions here.

    Funky Hands
: 16 Tons Anniversary beer, only available at Block 15 and 16 Tons. Fun beer to brew, even more fun to drink. We have been doing primary Brett ferments for a few years now and are getting closer to taming the beast.

Intergalactic Hop Shop: will probably return in August in draught & cans (limited distro). There are some similarities to Consortium #8 but many differences as well.

Distribution: Seattle was a special drop as we were dropping off other goods for their beer week and could fill our truck. We love Bend and would like to get beer there. One of the disadvantages of self distro is that we have to meet minimum amounts in the truck to get beer to a certain area. We will add Bend in when we can fill a truck (and have our new tanks online)

Beer Release/Brunch: I truly want everyone to be able to participate in these and get the bottles they want. For our Fall release we will be adding in an event at our Tap Room as an option. Still working on details but we will be able to accommodate many more of our awesome fans. We will also be releasing smaller batches of barreled beers with a hop forward can offering the first Saturday of each month beginning in July. These will be available on a first come basis but I will adjust limits and amount packaged in hopes that bottles/cans are available for a week or two. We have some fun stuff coming down the pipes.

Barreled Beer Hitting Distro? We may be able to trickle some out here and there but not much.

Sticky Hands: Its OK if it doesn't blow you away! I brew this to my tastes for a hoppy beer. Some folks will match up with my tastes, others may not as much. Batches have been pretty consistent lately. This beer does evolve in the can, I prefer it as around the 2 week mark as it calms down a bit but still has a nice fresh profile.

Thanks to all who support Block 15 and other independent artisan breweries!
    cheers,

    Nick

Is Funky Hands completely different from 100% Ganster? Really liked that one.

IMHO, if there is any way you can do it, I would recommend making the trip down to Corvallis or Eugene to try the Funky Hands. I can't over state how amazing this beer is, and how sad it makes me that this is a limited, one time brew.

As of last weekend, I think there was a 4 bottle limit on sales of it, and no growler fills at 16 tons. I don't believe they've ever had to do that with a previous anniversary beer, but then again, they've never had an anniversary beer like funky hands.

Gonna try to make it to the Sixgill tomorrow for the Block 15 event. Haven't been lucky enough to try any of their stuff so I'm looking forward to this.

They are cut from the cloth with some overlapping hops and malt, but some differences as well. Funky Hands is stronger with a more assertive hopping routine and huge pineapple hit. Gangster is a more mixed bouquet and crushable.

Strong chance we will brew this in the future. And, to give credit where it is due, 16 Tons pitched me the idea for Funky Hands and assisted in selecting dry hops (galaxy & citra)

Block 15 looking in to, may be with increased capacity if current levels aren't sufficient, in to signing with a distributor in the near future?

I can't agree more! Funky hands is so amazing ! Really should be a year round Block 15 beer. I know i would always be buying it. After i finish these bottles i have now. I wonder if they got 1 or 2 kegs of it? I haven't been in a few days, but its still on tap on their website.

Spoken like a true artisan, and a humble one. Thanks for taking the time to enlighten us and answer questions with this post. And, for the record, the only reason Sticky Hands didn't absolutely blow me away the first time I had it was because your very own IHS (my first Block 15 beer) did, and my expectations were accordingly warped. Now that I've had a chance to quell my initial prejudice and try it a few more times--and closer to your preferred 2-week mark--I do find myself truly appreciating this beer. Not that I failed to the first time, but, as is so often true in life, we get wiser the further we go along...

    Keep up the great work!

Alas, it's no longer on tap, and they're down to just a hand full of bottles. Was told there is currently one keg left at the taphouse, which is apparently being held now for a special occasion. No word on whether they can get anymore from B15.

BTW. There seems to be a slight variation between bottles and draft. Bottles are less cloudy, and the tropical fruit is more pronounced. Brett funk on the nose and palate is a bit less intense as well. Either way, the beer is flat out delicious.

I totally agree on the two week mark for Sticky Hands. For a while I was treating it like Pliny and trying to only drink it as fresh as possible, so that's why the last batch I had was a bit underwhelming initially. It was probably close to 2 weeks when I had the 3rd can and I enjoyed it more. It still was an adjustment going from the Tropical Slam back to the regular and while I love both, I would have to give the slight edge to the TS. Appreciate all the feedback and keep the good stuff coming.
