Ah, so this is a solera blend of papier, coton and cuir... Got it. I never picked up that those were all a solera.

I suppose you could call it an "old ale" since it is blended, but the fact that all of the blends have been barrel aged and it's 15.5%, makes it a barleywine in my mind. To me a old ale is a blend of aged, stock ale and fresh, young beer (~8% or so). But really, it's all just semantics, I'd still compare it to BA barleywines based on its makeup.

The fact that there is some 4-yr old beer provides a bit of justification on the cost, but still too expensive in my book when compared to other beers out there.

No problem, I was guessing that the beer was not inspired by the 1972 Andrei Tarkovsky film Solaris

It takes about the same amount of time to drink this beer as it does to watch the film. Perfect pairing.

Just saw it at Colorado Blvd Liquor Mart. They have a grip. Didn't check the price. (RS Member)

They also had Uncle Jacobs...until I got there. :grimacing:

But I bet you wouldn't have a problem buying a semi decent $35 bottle of wine would you? Solera method+100% bourbon barrel aged+15.5%abv = win in my book.

Anyone a reserve member last year? How much were the 100% bba versions? I know the 25% versions were $20 or so. $30-35 doesn't seem that far fetched.
