I recently opened a BT 2011 and a Sans Paigae. Both were gushers. First, why does this happen?Second, has anyone else experienced this with The Bruery beers?
I've had those 2 gush on me when not cold. Chilling them and letting them come to temp after pouring works well.
I haven't had a problem with either... were they actually cold or just chilled? I know the 2010 BT can foam up a little. Not a gusher but definitely overcarbed right now for me is Smoking Wood Rye.
I opened a 2011 Black Tuesday on 8/31 that had been sitting at 50 degrees since its release, and although it wasn't gushing, it was foaming out as if I had agitated the bottle quite a bit. I've come to expect that reaction from opening a BT. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I do remember it happening to the 2010 as well.
Haven't had a gusher from the Bruery, but I opened a Fantome Printemps tonight and it was like a geyser... the remaining 3/4ths were delicious though!
Never seen a Black Tuesday gush personally, & I have had quite a few of them at tastings, as well as opened some myself. Also never had a Bruery beer that was a geyser either. Some lower carbed Oude Tarts & Autumn maples here & there before, but that's about it.
I opened a Black Tuesday 2011 about a month back and it gushed on me big time. I never had a problem with them before that. It was around 40-50 degrees when i opened it. I also let it cool in the fridge before opening it. I lost about a third of the bottle. Bummer since i had a few people to share it with. Oh well. **it happens.
