Aren't they trying to completely separate sour and non sour production?

Yes. This is from one of their blog posts last month:

"Lastly, and very excitedly, we’re completely separating our sour beer production from our clean beer production. Within a few months, all clean barrels will be a few miles away from our sour barrels, so we won’t have to worry about their proximity to each other causing any issues (they currently have a wall separating them). By the end of 2014, we’ll be brewing wort and sending it over to our sour & funky barrel house, fermenting it there, and packaging there. Only clean beer will be packaged at the brewery on a new bottling line, and our existing bottling line will be moving over to the sour & funky barrel house. This will allow greater experimentation and focus on our sour & funky beer production and our clean beer production.

To understand why we’re so excited about this, we should fill you in on what we currently do. We brew a batch of beer at the brewery, move wort to our sour & funky barrel house (which also currently houses clean barrel aged beers), ferment and age it there, and then bring it back to the brewery where we package it on a dedicated sour bottling line. While we keep almost everything separate, we do share the same brite tank between sour and clean beer (and clean it really really well), yet it still concerns us that there’s a potential for cross contamination."

I watched it all the way through and I can't tell if they are serious or this is some kind of performance art.

I'm trying to figure out why he had a notepad AND looked like he was looking up and left the whole time like he was reading off of cards.

Still desperately hoping they somehow decide to put a Society only tasting room in at the new location. No way it happens but I would be so psyched. Aside from a permit to sell alcohol, policing it would probably be a huge pain in the ass unless they just refused to sell at the register to anyone without a card like Costco. I still can have a good time at the Tasting Room but I pretty much only go first thing on Saturdays now due to the crowds. Best problem to have for a business though.

I'm fine with one tasting room, but they need to add a second or third register. The line can get awfully long with one.

The last time I went there it took 30 minutes from the door to the register to get a beer. Horrible.

The line isn't worth us for Horaders. I imagine RS feels the same way.

Wouldn't the same law that allows you to buy alcohol from members only places like Costco without having a membership card also prevent The Bruery from restricting you access to a tasting room without RS/HS membership?

Wouldnt that imply that they have to serve you member only beers. I dont think that is the case, and it probably is dependent on the liquor liscence.

I hope that they expand the tasting room, it was kind of dissapointing when they unvieled the new room and there wasnt even space for half the people. Recently the crowds are fairly insane.

The crowds were insane in December and early January. The last few times I've gone (the last few weeks) haven't been as bad. Wish the tasting room was bigger but it is a nice place to have a beer. Plus it's easy to tell if it's crowded before you get in. If the parking lot is near full just get back on the 57 and head to another brewery.
