My question is what difference would letting us know RDF and FDR make? Will it effect the decision making process of anyone in the societies? Is anyone out there thinking I really wanted this beer April 7th but April 21st is too late to purchase a porter? It's one thing if that beer led you to shell out the money for a membership and they never deliver, it's another if it's delivered late or in this case could still be on time but not as early as usual.

I feel like that name would be better fitting for a Gose, wouldn't it?

From the standpoint of there being a delay, no, it probably won't affect anyone's decision making process. From the standpoint of the reason for the delay, yes. Between the rumors of an infection and their track record over the past nine months, an unexplained delay is likely to cause some people to be gunshy once the allocations are available.

I don't think it would be constructive for The Bruery to get in the habit of refuting every random rumor that pops up on beer forums, but RDF/FDR are some of their most anticipated beers for this year and a lot of society members have memories of Cacaonut, White Chocolate, BA Autumn Maple, etc. fresh in their minds. If it really just is a conditioning issue, rather than an infection, a quick message to that effect would go a long way. I don't have strong feelings one way or another - I'd be happy to get an update, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it - but I can certainly understand some of the reactions to the fact that it didn't go on sale and nothing has been said about it.

    Yes.

If you are reading this Patrick, you could totally bottle Salty Weiss under this name.

It's highly possible that they haven't commented because they just don't know. Perhaps it's too sweet or hot and would be better to condition in the bottle or remain in the barrel, but it could also be an off-flavor that requires lab analysis. Some analysis takes time. Sometimes you must stress a few bottles to see if the off-flavors become more pronounced and run analysis on those bottles.

If I owned a brewery, I wouldn't want to comment by saying that it just needs a little more time and then it actually turns out to be a much bigger issue, like infection. I also wouldn't want to explain that we're running tests for infection and then later say that it was a false alarm. I'm sure they'll comment when they have a concrete answer. If the Bruery gave an impulsive response and then altered that position later, many of you would crucify them for it. Just let the beer-making process run its course.

They really should just make a statement before anyone joins and pays for memberships, that they will release beers when they are ready and that everything is subject to change. That way we could all make a decision to join the membership or not. An estimated schedule would be a nice bonus. I mean, if they did this, nobody would bitch and complain.

Who cares about the exact timing of the schedule. Wait a few more weeks for it. Jesus, it's not a big deal. You will get it. Hoarding alcoholics !

@mrotstein and I will be meeting at the Bruery tonight and starting a support group regarding the Bruery. We'll be drinking the reserve exclusive Grey Monday. The topic for tonight's meeting will be the lack of exclusive tastings for reserve members as well as other issues mentioned above.

The Following are our expected beers for 2014 and their expected on-sale dates.*
    *subject to change

    or this one

Barrel aged beers tell us when they are ready, so keep in mind any stated release dates are estimates only.

    or this one

In the event that an allocated beer does not meet our quality standards, we may delay shipping by a couple of weeks, or choose not release a beer at all.

Glad I delayed getting my refund paperwork in, I've got till June.
Is it weird that I still want bottles even if they are infected? I love mixing sours w BBA beers, in fact I'm sipping on a BT blended w OTC right now. So as long as there is disclosure, if an accident happened so be it.
Look at Smooth Criminal it wasn't planned but it was disclosed to be what it is & it sold.

Had an Ebony and Oak recently. I could detect some of the more brett/sour flavors, but IMO it was not that bad. Granted, I stored the bottle cold the whole time. That and Mash and Grind ended up being my favorite 2013 releases.

Maybe they'll have a bunch of different variants of BT. Black Tuesday with Peanut Butter, BT with bananna, BT with jalapenos, BT with actual smores, BT on nitro, BT in rum barrels, BT with coffee, BT with ginger?, BT with etc..
