On the plus side, the Bruery is saving me a lot of money this year.

I wonder if they could filter the beer, it just won't be age-able (I know it's a little late now.) I know their new facility is going to have that new centrifuge toy.

Did they do that with kegs? They were able to serve Cacaonut on tap for a while, or was it just they were refrigerated so they didn't go bad as quickly and pulled them once they did.

thank you for the well thought out reply. ill address it # by #
    1) i agree with you. but i don't like that they are still profiting of off a mistake (this wasn't supposed to be a sour) even a penny.
    2) i agree, but again to me it is lame they are profiting off of a mistake, which is FAR from the first.
    3) correct.
    4) quite possibly, but their name is also on the label, and they are the one who is peddling the beer, and in turn, sharing in the revenue.
again what you said are valid points. i think their return policy on this beer is problematic. to me, this could be alleviated by selling it at their cost (or below for that matter) and simply saying zero returns period.

Honestly the beers sound good and they are being up front about what is going on with them. So they recommend drinking them soon, that's probably a good thing. Otherwise I'd sit on them forever anyhow. I'll buy 1 or 2 of each, enjoy them soon and it should all be fine.

I don't really seethe downside in "having" to drink multiple 14%+ ABV beers in a short time span . In all seriousness, they are in a Catch 22 for releasing them or not. Obviously time will tell if the lacto can survive the high ABV and aging in spirit barrels. In the long run, I think this really only effects those of us who want to age these guys.

I think this would have been the better way to go as well. I would rather sell all the bottles at 5, than sell half at 20 and half to throw away. Then again, someone earlier mentioned using the leftovers for a sour porter, which may work depending on flavor profile I guess.

Either way.....Im really enjoying Filmishmish and can't wait to try Mishmishmish.

So much for improved quality control. In a final bit of hilarious irony, hundreds of people will be unable to use their credits from previous purchases of infected beer. I think that about does it for me. It seems insane to commit so much money to this disaster when there are many other, better options on the table.

Sounds like you're going to have to parlay your infection credits... Spend them all on RDF and FDR which will effectively extend their expiration dates until 6/30.

Not gonna get my panties twisted over a beer I'm not gonna buy. Bummer this didn't come out right as I was looking forward to it too. At least they admitted it to is before we bought. For those complaining about the return policy or semi-reduced price, don't buy any (I'm not).

I guess I'll just have my fill at FWI.

In general I think this is really disappointing but am glad to see The Bruery doing what they can to make it right. These two beers were my most anticipated for the year, I'll still buy one of each to see how they taste.

I would have, however, preferred to be able to taste them first. This allotment window is way too short and since I just went to the tasting room on Thursday I doubt I'll make it back before the sale ends.

In regards to all of the comments about the Bruery still having QA issues... I would have to assume these barrels were aged for many months, and the mistake was probably made long ago. Splitting the sour and clean fermentation can't happen soon enough...

Also, I'm not ashamed to admit that I definitely was hoping to save at least one or two of these for trade bait. And why not? The other Bruery beers aren't pulling much these days and was hoping this release would garner some interest...

I hope The Bruery offers bottle pours of this at the Tasting Room prior to expecting anyone to buy and drink an infected time-bomb.

I can't wait to see these bottles for sale at the next 12 Days of Christmas event! "Drink Fresh" - just like Batch #1000 and Or Xata!

I think the perception on how quickly you need to drink a really hoppy ipa differs from how long of a window you have to drink a barrel aged porter.

But I see what you're getting at there. Truthfully, more beers need to be consumed fresh. But if this was such an issue about drinking it as soon as possible, why not just release this allocation earlier than sit on it an extra two or so weeks while folks felt disappointed in this month's first allocation email.

The "release party" seems to be the only reason why they held off. Which is a bit of a catch 22. You're telling people to drink this fast, but your lagging to release it.

Should just be "Allocations on sale now, pick ups starting tomorrow, DRINK IT now now NOW!"

I cannot speak for everyone else, but I saw it as part of the benefit of the bargain, and a large incentive to re-up for another year. This was arguably the most anticipated release of this year's RS calendar, and it is a bust. Reducing the price does not really matter for out of staters who probably have a couple months lag time (at best) before a trustee can pick up, package, and ship (unrefrigerated) what by that time will be a sour mess.

My guess would be that they were waiting for the lab work to be finished before jumping to any conclusions. Could you imagine how much more of an uproar that would've happened if they released it early and then later said it was infected?

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for an e-mail stating that MischMishMish is going to be sour.

Sounds like plenty of RS and HS members in this thread won't be maxing out. Best bet is to keep an eye on this thread for someone local to you with extra allocations.

Somebody else mentioned a bottle should be included with membership, and that does seem like the best and most fair route to take here. This was a major release for the majority of members, and turning around and asking them to buy infected beer is a bit crazy.

Offer additional bottles for sale, that's fine, but at least give members a bottle of each (or choice between one or the other?).
