The Bruery's 2014 RS/HS Allocation Thread

Saw they guys from smog city at the TR today. Hopefully a collab is in the works!

 

I saw Patrick/Tyler in there today too but didn't want to bother them because they were already talking with other people/friends.

CR is no longer on draft, but for sure try the Fruit Jammer while it is there. No notes posted anywhere I could tell but great rich dark-berry (Boysenberry or Blackberry maybe?) flavor and nicely sour. Served on the rocks which was different but I really liked it. Hope to see more projects like it.

Also got my first taste of Mocha Wed and it was incredible. I was thinking about letting 1-2 of mine go but I honestly can't think of a beer I would rather have.

 

In my case, it's much cheaper to ship + RS price than tank of gas (4 hours round trip) + retail price.

It's a lower ABV version of Black Tuesday. My guess is that it'll fall between 10-12% instead of the 18%+ that BT is.

Ebony and Oak was originally billed as a lower abv bt, "but with a managable alcohol content"

 

I did and I don't think it's a repackaged Ebony & Oak, since that was a super low ABV barrel aged stout (8%) where I think S.H.I.T. will be 10-12%. It'll probably be the same recipe, just scaled back to ferment to a lower ABV, where E&O was a totally different beer to begin with - thus calling this a "lower ABV BT".

 

I know this is a 2013 release, but has anyone tried the French Oak Bois yet?

How does it compare to the other variations?

 

I tried it next to the new American oak, and I thought it had some differences but not enough to really set it apart. I didn't take notes, and I wish I could be more specific. I do remember thinking it was better than the new American, if that helps.

Mostly, I think it is very interesting to taste how much not having a spirit barrel really affects the flavors of the beer.

 

It has a ton of Wood to it. A TON of Wood. I didn't think it was anything very impressive, but cool to have I guess?

Beers received, but came in order of most recent purchased, rather than oldest to newest. Anyone else get this problem?

Received my chocolate rain allocation today. Did anyone else get a bottle of last years CR mixed in? I got 5 bottles of 2014 and one 2013

I got a 2 bottle shipper today with a bottle of SitR and two small HS glasses. What's the deal with this? I'm in Arizona so seeing a box from Patrick Rue was not expected. Anyone else get this?
