Going from the Cape down to the CT this weekend via 84. I have some time to kill and am looking for any MUST stops. Any suggestions??
Heard about a place called The Little Pub in Ridgefield, CT. Anybody been there and reccommend their beer choices??
Little Pub is excellent. Great food, great atmosphere and very good beer selection. unfortunately they still clog up 3 lines with Palm, Stella and Guinness, but the other two are a rotating IPA and a rotating something else good (right now they may still be rotating Oktoberfest beers through that line). Their bottle/can selection is very nice with some good large formats. Awesome little place. You can definitely find better beer selection, but the place has a great combo between the food, the vibe and the beer. I would make my way down to New England Brewing along your way. That's in Woodbridge and not on the 84 corridor but not an awful detour. Right by their is Amity Beverage. Very good package store. I'm not as familiar with the bottle shops along 84 near Hartford but a slight detour south of 84 (10 minutes) just past Waterbury to Mountview Plaza Wine & Liquors in Naugatuck is worth the trip. Very good selection in the back of the store. You mention Little Pub so if you know you are going down that way. Anconas across the street and Fairgrounds in Danbury (on your way from 84 right by the mall) are your best retail spots in that area.
Sounds like you're skipping Rhode Island, but if you change your route be sure to hit Track 84 in Warwick. It's 5 minutes off of Rt. 95 and it has the best taps and prices in the state, hand down.
