Does anyone here ferment in one of these beasts? I'm looking at upping my production and am intrigued by these simply for their size, but the price tag makes me cry a bit. Anyone out there using these and fid them to be a good investment?
I have one and like it a lot. It is in the garage, so in the winter the garage is at 40F, and I control the temp by adding heat with a temp controller and a thermowrap. Most of my best beers in the last 4 years have come out of it. Just spent more $ for legs and casters. I has many advantages from my usage, and I like it for lagers and big beers. Full disclosure, I still use buckets and carboys too.
Are there other fermentors out there offered in the capacities the fermenators come in? I'm so close to pulling the trigger. Everyone I have talked to has praised this piece of equipment. I guess how else am I going to ferment big batches?
http://brewhemoth.com/brewhemoth But I've heard the angle of the cone is not ideal http://conical-fermenter.com/products/conicals/ Don't have either, SOMEDAY!
My buddy and I just bought the 40-gal conical from Stout. Should be here next week. We know there's going to be a learning curve going from 6 carboys to the conical, but a homebrew friend has a 27-gal one already and can show us the ropes. We'll still hold on to the carboys in the chest freezer, however, and just plan to be able to have 60-gal lagering at one time.
