I don't believe they've canned Wixa Weiss, which is the one they're famous for. They do serve it at the 'Koop, Cherry Cricket, Ghost Plate, and a few other Wynkoop and Breckenridge owned properties.
Dry Dock's is still around in bombers and it's in cans now, too. When Bill left DD and went to Prost, neither of them were an exact copy of the old Dry Dock GABF gold recipe, but the current one from the Dock is closer than Prost's.

Hefeweizen is a style that I am quite fond of. Franziskaner and Tucher are quite nice. I want to try Live Oak, but I cannot find it anywhere in Tuscaloosa. I also happen to have a hefeweizen homebrew with Weihenstephaner yeast fermenting right now.

I started work on Saturday, just ended this morning, and I've got Thursday through Saturday off this week. I work midnights. But I did laugh.

YES - the body is rounder or something... maybe to do with carbonation, can't tell. But when you get it on tap and it's right, it's a legendary experience

I'm aware. Bad example, but it's like who goes into a bar and orders a Budweiser? It's always a "Bud". Conversely, if I were to order a hefeweizen, I'd order a hefe, because I'm lazy and want my beer order to be processed that much quicker. We don't like long words in America.

I drink a Vitus at least twice a week. It does pack a bit too much abv for sipping in the sun, but to unwind inside after a hot afternoon its refreshing as hell.

People keep mentioning Vitus and I just keep thinking about how I haven't drank one in over a week...

Most of my faves are Germans (schneiderweisse, weihenstephaner, Ayinger) but SN's Kellerweis is really good too. As for weizenbocks (one of my fave styles, I might add) Plank's Dunklar Weizenbock has been one of my faves lately.

At the very least, Dancing Man is the best domestic.

I have family in Texas so I have been able to try Live Oak Hefeweizen while visiting. It is draft only so that can indeed be challenging. If you ever see it on draft it is well worth trying; a very tasty beer!

    Cheers!

the only answer among American hefeweizens. get a hold of the weihenstephaner yeast and some awesome homebrewed versions can be concocted.

This is a glorious beer. It and Dancing Man are, IMO, the two best American versions of the style (one could argue that DM is more of a Weizenbock) that I have tried (that includes Live Oak).

I like German ones overall, and Erdinger has a pretty good one that's easy to find.
